I have been shopping for a new release my current Cobra is about 10 years old and I think is finally ready to retire. I don't really care about the cost but there are way too many to choose from. I have checked alot fo product reviews but would much rather her opinions from active archers.

You don't mention if You are using a string loop or not, However if using a string loop my preference is for a Carter quickie either model. Why. The trigger has no creep and is very crisp, best trigger i have found on wrist strap release period. While probably best with d loop I also have shot it directly from string and works just fime in that mode as well. Lot of good releases out their but you oughta check this one out. I absolutely love mine.

Lets us know if your using a loop and if this is a hunting bow only or for target. For hunting with a loop the carter quickee and TruBall Short and Sweet are great wrist strap style releases. The Truball Pro Diamond and the Tru-Fire Hunter are great T-Handle releases. If this is for target I would suggest the Stan SuperX (although it is $$$) but its an awesome release.

I read this thread with interest. I've been using cobra releases for 4 years. I've had no probmems except after 10 days of very dusty conditions on an ATV, I did have to rinse the dust out of the mechanism with water to get it function more smoothly. Rather than spending the $ on more expensive models, I picked up a couple of extra releases. One is always stored in my fanny pack along with the extra arm guard and knife (this is because I know myself and "Murphy" really well). I then keep the other in the bow case, and of course the third, on my wrist! While 4 years may not be a real long time, I have been pleased with the service so far. I have played around with other releases, but did not experience any significant benefit in the let off or lack of travel, or in accuracy. Being the gear junkie I am, I still look at new releases every month or so--just haven't been able to justify it yet. Do the high end units really make any difference? Are they worth 2 to 3 times the money?

Throw away the string loop and get a James Greene Gator Jaw release! I had to shorten the threaded rod a little to fit me, but I am very happy with the design.

I'm also looking to retire my old trusty Fletchunter release that I have had for 15 years. I have the Carter LokJaw 2000 but I can't get use to it. Has anyone tried the Tru-fire Judge with a d-loop?
