I've seen some huge mark downs on Rocky boots lately, but have read a lot of bad reviews that Rocky boots quality has gone down hill ever since they started being made in China a few years back. I had a few older pairs that held up well, but can't speak to their newer stuff. Any personal experiences? Are there any good boots out there still made in the USA???

I have two pairs of Rocky that are over 15 years old. The soles are worn down but I still wear the boots.

I had another newer pair that soles disintegrated and fell apart. They had never been worn on anything other than dirt when hunting!!! Rocky would not stand behind them.

I won't buy Rocky any more.....

I looked at Rocky, Under Armour, and Mucks today..I bought the Mucks..Rocky seemed way too bulky and heavy..older Rockys were pretty good but new ones don't impress me.
I bought the Mucks Wetlands..good all around boot..doesn't get too brutally cold here in SW PA..can wear them from spring to winter.

The way they have been going they won't be in a few more years. They were made in Nelsonville Ohio not far from where i live but have moved to mexico and just the outlet store remains. When i was in High school there boots where great, everyone had a pair of cornstalkers or bearclaws.

had a pair from years back, gore tex, remained water proof till i started wearing through the outer cover and the gore-tex lining. the sole eventually cracked also but I put them through heavy use for close to 15 years. bought a new pair 2 years ago, they started leaking this year from standing in the rain on a boat, not even submerging them. They've held up otherwise. time for a new brand next time. shouldn't pay 115$ for water proof boots that are only water proof for one year.

I'll play the devils advocate.I have had the soles crumble on an older pair of rocky's but they weren't worn for over a year and thrown in the basement. Now i have had 3 pairs since. Most of the time I wear them the first year for hunting only, after that they become work boots, worn for 10 hours a day six days a week.I usually get another year out of them and and believe me I beat the hell out of them.I wear the soles and sometimes even the leather out.Honestly I don't have to many complaints about them. One thing I like the most is they are real comfortable and easy to break in.So I say what the hell buy a pair and try them out.As for the guy who paid $115 for a waterproof boot never believe that unless it says Gor-Tex.Then if it leaks take them back and I gurantee they will replace it for free.

The last pair of Rocky Boots I purchased literally came apart just sitting in the closet! I'll never buy another pair. But don't think Rockies are the only ones with problems. Most of the boots are made in china now and Many of them are garbage. Just leave most any pair in your car on a hot summer day and see what happens. To speed up production time, some shoe manufacturing companies must be using hot met instead of traditional glues. The best boots I've ever owned are a pair of USA made Red Wings that are on my feet right now. But even Red Wing is now having shoes made in China.

.................. Most of the boots are made in china now and Many of them are garbage. ......
That's probably the cause right there. It seems China will use any crap they have laying around and use it the production process of whatever they build. Ever heard of the Chinese drywall problem? It turned copper wiring and AC coils in houses black and made people sick. Children's toys......lead in the paint. China can keep their crap.

Guy at Gander Mtn told me not to buy Rockys, they have nothing but trouble with them. This was the 2nd pair that I had returned to them that year. One pair the the soles cracked, the replacement pair's lining pulled out. Never even considered buying Rockys since. The final replacement boot was Lacrosse and they were very dependable.

I have had a pair of Rocky's for about 2 years. I have wore them down to the nubs. But like others the soles don't hold up well. Mine have a split down one and every time you walk you here a squishing sound from where is blowing air in and out. I must say they keep my feet warm and have good water proof. But I just bought a pair of Redwings and could not be more pleased!

But every year they win the Bowhunting World Reader's Choice award for most popular boot.... I can never figure that one out. Personally, I think they are a pos.
