one of my buddies sent me his s40/yeti cam. the board is fine. the problem is, whenever i put batteries in the cam the cam turns itself on instantly. i tried removing the hack with no success. i then traded battery compartments and still get the same thing. i dont see any damage to any of the ribbons. it powers on instantly and thats it. you cant control it at all.

things ive tried:

made sure the lens dust cover contact was covered.

swapped battery compartments

took the hack out of it

cleaned and reset all the ribbons

still the same issue as when it started. is this cam toast?

sounds like a solder bridge on the white block where you solder the wires to. check where you solder the power wire on

well i tried swapping the power bar, swapping the flash assembly... everything down inside the powerbar has MAJOR corrosion. the camera showed up with no desicant pack and i think thats the problem here. moisture.

now that the new parts are in, the red light on the lower right blinks a couple times and thats it. it still wont turn on. im going to find him a new cam.

Okay now unhook the flash. Once the cameras get corrosion in them they usually do not dfunction properly after that.

so youre saying remove the flash completely and it may work?

Disconnect the ribbon

Discannect the ribbon and see if it will power on.
