When coming from climber to saddle it is definitely more expensive. Adding a climbing method can be relatively or very expensive depending on the route you go. You can definitely save money here to get started and upgrade in the future as you find what you like.
Between do it yourself and used gear you can absolutely do it on a budget. I made my first platform using the lone wolf seat and parts from EWO. Also made my own daisy chains for my sticks to save weight. Dump pouches from the army surplus store worked great so far.
I’ve spent too much money on other things like stands as I have enjoyed a bit of a hybrid style now but you can absolutely make it work without completely breaking the bank. You’ll just upgrade a little over time.
