Which do you recokmend and would like to have a climbing belt with it also. The one i have doesnt connect to the harness in the upper back area, connects down in the middle of the back and makes it a pain. Can you layer over top of the one you use, and if not do you get out of the tree when its cold to add layers. would like one that doesnt have the big buckles if thats possible, thanks for any input, its appreciated.

I love my Hunter safety system vest. It does not have a climbing belt, but it is very comfortable either under or over clothing. I carry it to my stand in warm weather to minimize sweat! They only time I need a climbing belt is when I hang one of my fixed stands. What I do is thread a strap from another harness through the front of my vest and around the tree to free both hands up while hanging a stand. The Vest is the way to go in my opinion ;)

I second Northforker's opinion. It's a great harness system. I used moleskin to cover the buckles to avoid any noise in case the bow hit them. I was surprised how much side-to-side movement I had without it getting tangled like my other harnesses. It costs a little more than some of the other vests on the market but I believe it's worth it. :D

Just got a Hunter Safety System for Christmas. Have not tried it yet but it looks like a nice safety harness.

I had the fastback and sold it as soon as I seen Lone Wolks harness. The fast back thight buckles get in the way with there stand. The LW has no buckles there. One metal buckle on waist, two flat adj on legs, other then that the leg straps loop aroung and hook on waist. Its tma approved and really comfortable. No bulk. And tangle free since there are only two loops the rest of the straps are free untinn you hook up. Really simple and fast to put on. You hold it by the the tree strap and it hangs tangle free. Check it out, you got nothing to lose.

I like my Seat of the Pants safety harness, it's got two "d" rings on the belt that are great to use when you are climbing and the loop on the back can be used on top of your clothing or you can wear it under your clothing.

Seat-of-the-Pants is the best safety harness system going. When I went through the NBEF program here in Tennessee a few years back they had one and made each person in the class put it on and get a feel for it. I already had one and am appalled at some of the safety harnesses I see people use each year. I'm talking about people who should know better. Like a bow shop owner and his wife who have been doing this for years. This year she put a strap around the tree and one around her waist with a tether in between. She said she didn't like the full harnesses as they are uncomfortable. Last year a man was found within 20 miles of their shop hanging from a tree dead with that type of harness on. If the pros in this industry won't set a good example what are us plain old amateur hunters supposed to do?

What are the design flaws in the rocky vest that you seen? I got one a few months ago seems to work great. I know they changed from buckles to cinch straps. And the top strap for the tree is plenty wide enough for any tree here in michigan.

well I see they fixed one The strap would not go around a decent sized tree and I was forced to anchor the strap to the tree stand which is RISKY BUSINESS

I guess they had a lot of complaints

The HSS is the way to go

ROCKY STILL SUX IMO
