I used to wear it over but now i wear it under. It seems more comfortable under and i use a hss.

I thought I saw somewhere that you were suppose to wear it over due to possible constriction of the clothing if you should fall. Idk if that is true or not, but I wear it under...It's an older Seat o the pants, but I like it better than the HSS which I gave away because of the weight and noise.

 

Over. It never even occurred to me that you could wear it under your clothing.

 

over... if it rains and you have it under you will be wet! and I wear a muddy harness... simply amazing if you haven't tried one.

 

Over as well. really like having the bino harnesson my muddy , would never wear it under for fear of hangin myself should i fall. and im not about to cut holes in my camo

 

Over when it is warm but under when wearing my heavy winter jackets. Only disadvantage that i have found to wearing it under is if you have a jacket with a hood you cant put the hood up

Depends on temps and what harness I'm using. HSS vest on the outside all the time. SOP fastback under light or heavy jacket. SOP over top if jacket is not required.

 

I will be wearing my tree spider speed harness under my clothes, it buckles right into my scent blocker jackets.

As a Rescue person and the things i have seen I would recomend you wear it n the out side when you are in the tree and moving to make a shot you are not worried about where that harness is and if it twists on you and you fall and it is around your neck or arm when you fall you can cut it if it is hidden you will not be able to cut it. that is just my two cents. I always think the worst case thought too!

 

over my lightest top, over the pants. i dont wear much walking in, i dont want to sweat. im adding layers as they day progresses or taking them off. i dont wanna undo the harness every time.

 

We've got a pretty even divide among those wearing them under and those wearing them above clothing. Not only that, everyone has some pretty interesting (and specific) reasons for donning the harness like they do.

 

I use the HSS Ultralite...I wear it over my clothes and under my jacket.

 

I have an HHS. In warm weather it's over my cloths. In cold weather it's over my middle layer and under my heavy coat and insulated pants.

Over my pants and over my first shirt layer. I walk to stand that way. Once in stand i put on all my upper outer layers over the harness...

 

Over my pants, under my jacket. I can still make adjustments to it that way and I don't have to worry about the shoulder straps getting in the way of anything.

Look at the CD's that come with the harness always wear it over in case you need to get to buckles and the suspension strap if needed ii case you can't get back in your stand.

 

Agree totally. Also, it holds your clothes tight to your body and out of the way of the string- especially heavier clothes...

I just learned a lot!!!! I used to wear it under my clothes but over my base layer......I'll now be wearing it over my clothes!!!

 

I wear it under. Don't wear hoods. Safetywise i think its fine. Just make sure its tight when you sit. I prefer lone wolf factory harness.

Over but was considering under this year. Don't they make coats with a slit in the back for the safety harness strap to go through so you can use the hood? If you wear it under your coat and happen to fall and need to get to the straps and buckles, whats to prevent you from taking your coat off to get to them?

 

I think part of the issue could be that the safety line would basically pull on the clothing over the harness which could possibly cause you to be immobile or at least make it very difficult to undo zippers/buttons. Other than this being a possibility, has anyone ever heard of it actually happening? Personally, I'm leaning toward wearing the harness over all my base layers and under my outer wear.

 

I have done both & am now an under my coat person. I got a jacket with the slit in it for that reason. I feel that I stam warmer in cold weather with it under. I under stand post about being to get to buckles. Never licked the HSS vests but am not thinking maybe that is the way to go.
