I'm putting safety lines on all my hanging stands this year and it occurs to me that the haul rope and the safety line could get a bit tangled dangling in the wind. Then I wondered, "Why not use the safety line as the haul rope?"

Anyone try this?

That's exactly what I do. Never an issue.

Do you mean like the Lifeline? Don't you have to tie down the bottom so you can push up the prussik knot when you climb up?

I keep my safety lines tied down for exactly that reason, to push the knot. If you do not have it tied down, the knot won't slide up.

I place pull lines on the opposite side of the ladder/sticks/stand.

Guess having to use both hands to move the knot would sorta increase the odds you'll need the line!
