Sorry if this has been posted before but is there a scent that you swear by that you won't go in the woods without? I haven't had any real luck with any of them and most actually seem to spook the deer. Best I ever used is the cheap original Indian Buck Lure in the plastic bottle! Even though i don't go out of my way to buy it! Tried alot of very expensive ones and wasted alot of money on them. Any secrets your willing to share?

Nothing works well, I normally go the as scent free as possible route....

However, I did have great results last season using fitzgeralds deer dander. I sprayed my boots down as I got out of the swamp I was crossing, and had a young buck dogging my tracks like a bloodhound later that afternoon.

I have had bad luck with some scents before, but this guy seems to know what he's doing.

I've used the curiosity with great results in the early season, as well as Trailmaker in the pre-rut, and Silvertop during the peak rut.

I'm in no way affiliated with the company, but I typically don't go into the woods in archery season without some type of his lure, regardless of whether it's early or late season. So yeah, I guess I'd swear by it.

I have good results with sprayin **** urine on the bottom of my boots when walking in. I dont think the knight & hale stealth dust is too bad, ive had pretty good luck with it. But most of all just try to play the wind right.

Funny that you mentioned the Davey Brackens Buck lure. Orange bottle. It is the only lure that I have ever used that actually worked. "Once I had an 8 point push the film can that I had it in around the ground. I shot him and have never had luck with any other again like that. He just must have liked it. I agree with everyone else, Play the wind and use nothing.

I think you are talking about two different lures. Indian Lure and Davey Bracken. I don't see the Davey Bracken around anymore. We used to wear that stuff like cologne! Shot more than a few using that stuff. Never got busted thats for sure.

James Valley scents as directed!

I've used Kirschner's lures in the past with mixed results. Curiosity, Trailmaker & Studfinder worked well the whole season. As far as the Silvertop goes I wouldn't waste your money. After taking all the recommended precautions so as not to contaminate the scent, or anything in the area with human scent. I've had groups of doe during Nov.run away snorting & flagging like they just caught wind of the devil himself. :scared: :scared: I've also had bucks walk to where the scent was; come to full alert, snort & run off, or nervously leave the area quickly. I don't know about you but, my guess is if there's a big buck nearby and he See's his lady's spooking, or his summertime companion running scared you won't even hear a leaf rustle when he makes his exit. :bolt: My favorite type of scent for attracting deer is the tarsal gland dragged to my stand then hung up in a tree. If it starts decaying & stinking get rid of it. My favorite cover scents are earth & acorn all the while staying as free of human scent as possible. :ninja:

I use Southern Whitetail Scents products. I have tried most all the others and the is the only scent that consistently produces positive responses from bucks and does. My boys and I have harvested some very nice bucks in the last two years using their scents.

I Have Used Numerous Scents With Mixed Results. The Only Scent That I Have Had Several Positive Results With Is Bowhunter's Setup By Scrape Juice. I Have Never Had A Deer Spook Using This And Have Had Deer Lick And Eat All The Grass And Leaves Where I Had Sprayed It. I Have Observed Deer Coming From Downwind Winding This Scent And Then Exhibit The Licking And Eating Behavior. I Have Also Had Deer Competely Ignore It So Nothing Is Foolproof.
