Assuming that both lenses are of equal quality and have the same quality anti reflective coating, what are the pros and cons of a flat lens vs a convex lens???
Thanks,

I don't think you can compare the two as far as quality.....flat lenses just don't cut it....

Huh?

Are you sure about that Gus? I have a flat Zeiss lens with Zeiss coating in my Arc scope that is every bit as clear as the plano convex lens in my Classic scope.

Flat?

You may be correct. I have a 4X and a 6X lens for my Arc Systeme Scope and they look flat on both sides. Maybe someone who is familiar with these lenses knows the answer.

bird, there is definetly a curve on one side. the other side is flat . If you want to find out which is which, Put the lens on a flat surface & rock it. one side will, & the other won't. The curve side might have a radius of about 60 " depending on the Magnification.
On qalens that is about 1"dia., it will appear flat

Thanks Mike!

I was going to say that our X-View lens appear flat also but with that large of radius, no wonder it is not obvious to the naked eye.

Some one said once that the flat lens has less glare, can't prove it by me.
