I would take the head off. Put your red tape where the blue dot is and focus on hitting there. Imagine deer is facing right. Your teaching your self bad habits. Your can move the blue dot down a inch or so if your planning on ground blind hunting. Your groups are averaging 50% loss rate. We need to practice to kill at a higher rate.

That'll let the air out of them for sure........well most of them........but I have never seen a deer with a red dot on them.........lol. OP if you want your 3D target to last a LOT longer then shoot the target behind it for "dots" and groups and save the 3D deer for angled shots, unknown distances and more realistic hunting scenarios.....are take the dot off. There really isn't a lot of value in using it as a expensive backstop for 20 30 40 etc IMO. Good luck.
I don’t really like shoot the block targets with my ez v sight it’s much easier with a deer as a reference
