Anyone ever serve their cables where they pass through the cable guards without a jig? How did it turn out? What size serving would you recommend?

Anyone ever serve their cables where they pass through the cable guards without a jig? How did it turn out? What size serving would you recommend?

If you are serving a very long section, you will need a jig. Serving size will depend on what the diameter of the string is. Usually .014 to.019. You can go.014-.015 to be on the safe side and it will do well.
BCY halo 0.14 will do a good job
Get a good serving tool. Spigarelli String Server is a good one for the money.

If you want to do it correctly you will need a jig to keep tension on the cable so you can get the severing on correctly and tight enough.
