Shop owners, be it pro shop or home shops. Can we compile a list of must have serving types, diameters, and there uses? I have a bunch of colors of the #3D serving and use it for most tie-ins, but I'm looking to professionalize my serving game. Any help is appreciated.

I only make strings for myself, friends and coworkers but I have found the following a good diameter for the average bowstring and cable stand count:

Powergrip .018 for center servings
.014 BCY Halo or .015 Angel Majesty for cable end servings
BCY 3D for string end servings
.008 Spectra or .007 Halo for end loops
.008 Spectra, 3D or .014 Halo for roller guards

I build my threads with the tag end method for the loops, so no serving required there. I used to use Angel Majesty .015 for the end serving on my string and cables but can’t get it anymore. I now use Power Grip .014. Center serving I use Power Grip .014 as this fits my nocks the best. And for the roller guards I also use Spectra .008 like lunghit.

If anyone knows of a reliable source for Angel Majesty .014 please post it……thanks.

Check out BCY's website, serving material tab. Pretty good explanation of what fits what. Depending on what you're serving, Halo .014 for ends and powergrip .018 for centers work great for 452xtra. Powergrip .014 on the short ends on a cable if the cable snakes through mods. Recipe's change depending on the string material you are using. I'm still using .018 62xs for centers on target bows, softer has given me the best results.

It varies greatly depending on your preferences and the string builder. I personally only build strings with 452x and only build with one color. I also only build for myself and friends and family. My strings are 24 strands, 452x, and I use Halo .014" for pretty much everything but my loop ends and my cable rollers in which I use .007 halo or .008 Spectra. I also have some .017" halo as well as some .014 powergrip which I will use for nocks that require larger center serving. I am one that prefers a looser than normal center serving diameter, or it may be due to many builders using 22 or 20 strands for the string where I prefer 24 strands all around for the stability. It's a pretty simple formula, but it is stable and doesn't tend to give anyone any issues, which is my end goal.
