Hi everyone, new to the forum and have a couple of questions to start with.

I got my girlfriend a recurve for christmas. She shot a little in high school and thought she would like to do a little target practice for fun. My question is where do I set the knock point on a recurve in relation to the rest. Also what are the pro's and con's of shooting off the shelf. I have a compound, but traditional set up is a little diffrent.

Well a good place to start would be your local archery shop to make sure you get arrows spined correctly for her bow. It would also be a good place to get her a refresher in the basics. I usually start with the nock point around 3/8 of an inch above 90 degrees and see what kind of arrow flight I'm getting. Don't be afraid to go up or down to adjust it. Your question about shooting off the shelf would require me to know what kind of bow you have. Most recurves can be tuned to shoot quite well off the shelf. Good luck.

Ranger has it all wrapped up for you. One thing I would suggest on the string nock, you might find that you are somewhere between dead even and 1/8 inch above dead even. Just depends

If your recurve is shoot through, I would get me some bear short hair rug and like my shelf and my side plate with it. would be a good place to start.

Get the right spined arrows.
Decide upon glove or tab.
Get a wrist guard
** remember, only feathers on the arrows.
