I need some help with getting a bow. I dont know what too shoot, a recurve or a traditonal bow, What are the main differences in how they shoot. I als want to know how long of a bow should i get if i am drawing 28.5 inches on my compound? I am looking to have fun shooting it and then plan to eventually get a traditonal bow to take a deer with after I am confident enough. So basically right now i want a low draw weight cheap bow, any suggestions there? thanks

If you want to learn how to shoot a trad bow, get a 30#-35# cheapy recurve and some 1716 aluminum arrows. Read some books on shooting. I would recommend ebay for a bow. Check out these (Hint...Ebay is crawling with plenty of these bows):

I really like number ten! Good luck finding a good bow. And make sure you replace the string with a quality Dacron string. Most of these bows will arrive with a crusty old endless loop style string. The older bows generally don't have layered/built up limb tips, so a string made from Fast-Flight is no good. Go with Dacron, aka B-50. I recommend Chad Weaver's Champion Bowstrings ( www.recurves.com ) or Rod Jenkin's Great Strings. I buy Rod's strings at http://www.sticksandfeathers.com/

You can get a set of 1716 aluminum with feather fletching from a ton of places, but I like www.eders.com/

Well, a recurve is 'traditional', so I assume the alternative is a longbow? Most folks lose some draw length switching from a wheel bow to a stick, but there's no definate amount for each individual [usually 1/2 to 1", sometimes more]. Were I you, I'd just find/borrow one and give it a try.

Thanks Again I will deffinatley use some of those sites. I found one I can borrow. Its the right length and everything. Its one of my friends dad's old bows. I'm gonna shoot it for a while and see how I like it. I'm already addicted to shooting my Hoyt and Tuning it, so I hope this is as much fun if not more.
