I planning on getting the new left hand fanatic jacket and bibs to match. I wondering what to get for the early season . I hunt tree stand here in NY . season temps can be all over the place .I figure i can be in fanatic by November first.
I was thinking the Stratus bibs and jacket. Now i wondering if this might be overkill. I been reading reviews and see some taking the stratus into Dec with layering .maybe a better choice would be something with out the wind blocker . Maybe some stuff that would layer under the fanatic set. Celsius?
Temps where I hunt . of course you can get days way above or below average
average October temps high 60 low 38
average November temps high 47 low 30
average December temps high 36 low 22

what do you use and recommend?

I’ve got the fanatic and stratus sets. With good layering, I can get down to 32 with the stratus. Anything below that and I have to break the fanatic out. I get cold really easily, but I can handle down to 0 with wind if I layer good with the fanatic. My feet and hands get cold long before my body does

Bulky, maybe. But what do you expect for cold weather gear. The fanatic set is the best late season gear made imo.
I did sell my fanatic set, except the vest, plan on buying the 2019 version in right hand. Not to sure about the right, left hand versions though.

The Fanatic will serve you in every temperature range you have described except above 50-55 degrees. For the 50-55+ it is to warm and you will sweat excessively.

For warm weather you can comfortably hunt in Walmart camo.

In the cold weather, that is where the Fanatic shines. It has little if any bulk where it counts for an archery shot. I actually wear it in some of the 50+ scenarios because i shoot so well in it.

This is a no brainer if you have the cash to spend on it.

Only nock against the Fanatic is that it will not stand up to prolonged exposure to brush/briars.

if i can where the fanatic up to 50 with no base layers then the Stratus set would be a waist of money for early season . I might be better with something like the equinox . anyone using the equinox hoodie under the fanatic for late season for extreme cold? what ever I buy for early season i would like to be able to where as a insulation layer in late season

I wore the stratus into the single digits for 2 or 3 hunts(heavy layering), its such a rare occurrence where I hunt that I didn't feel like investing in the fanatic. Otherwise, I am completely fine with Stratus down to low 30's.

55+ I wear my ESW set, unless its 50's with a high wind
30-60 - I wear my stratus
Below 30 - I bought an artic shield bag

How does the fanatic fit? I’m considering their vest to throw over top of my softshell once I get to the stand. I’m in between a medium and large depending on brand and I found a fanatic in a size medium. If it’s sized to go over clothing, it should fit me.

Their sizing is pretty spot on. I would go with large, then you have plenty of room for layering.
Especially if in between sizes.

I’ve got both sets and I can wear my stratus until 30 degrees and be fine with the right layering. I’ve learned what under armour base layers to mix and match with the stratus from coollate October days until mid December days in Mississippi. I got the fanatic for Christmas and I wore it on like a high 30’s to low 40’s afternoon with strong north winds so I felt like it was going to be colder than it really was sitting on the stand and I was on fire when I got settled into my lockon. I never once felt the wind but i won’t wear my fanatic unless it’s in the 20’s. Or I don’t have far to walk. It’s nice bc it has zippers on the legs to leave open while you walk but it’s some serious late season gear. If you’ve got the cash, get both but you will find that the STRATUS IS WAYYY MORE VERSATLE THAN THE FANATIC. That’s the reason I initially went with the stratus 2 seasons ago bc I felt like I’d wear it more and I did but once I got into the last 6 weeks or so of the season I’d have to throw every base layer I had at the stratus to stay warm. The wind blocker in both the stratus and fanatic is incredible. Huge game changer compared to less quality clothes.

I have a Fanatic set. It's great except it catches every brier, thorn, brush, stic-tight, ect. That is the only thing I do not like about the material. Also, I normally wear extra large but I went with XXL and it fits great. My advice is go with one size larger than your normal size.

Fanatic is great, I have 2 jackets and 2 vests of different sizes for different applications. Imo it is not bulky at all for the warmth it gives, if you want to see bulk try Cabelas Stand Hunter parka. I would rather have as few layers as possible so I will use it for the warmer end of the temps range which is why I have two size jackets. I use a 3x vest for working outside when it is cold and it has been awesome this winter....3x vest also goes over my 2x jacket for cold temp hunting and keeps the bulk out of the arms....xl jacket and vest for not as cold.

I do need to get a pair of bibs for next season, used sanctuary and predator assault bibs this season and really was impressed with the Predator Camo assault bibs...….they provide great warmth for the light weigh they are and excellent windproofing, also have a hand warmer pouch similar to the fanatic jacket/vest on the bib. Great pocket layout. Not as warm as sanctuary..but they have a place for sure.

I have worn both and the fanatic is warm. I don’t like the bulk bow hunting. If you get the stratus and order some very good quality battery powered heated base layers and run them on low under the stratus it works amazing and reduces the bulk a lot. If you buy top of the line heated baselayers and stratus it comes out to be around the same price as the fanatic

I would get the fanatic you can wear it more.
I wear mine when its in the 50's, with boxers no base layer.
If you get warm while walking, it has leg vents, so you can zip them all the way and be walking in your boxers basically if you want. lol
I used to have the jacket, but I liked my first lite woodberry jacket better and sold it.
The jacket just seemed kind of bulky to me for bowhunting, I like the shooters cut that first lite makes better.

Something that I have worn a lot this year that I like is the kuiu encounter jacket and pants, they are really comfortable and quiet.
Like a tin softshell I guess, but quiet, it does have a light fleece backer. Pants have vents, jacket has pit zips, I really like that set up a lot for the 60-50 days, even high 40's.
