Do any of you sit in your stand before season, just to get an idea of deer movement for the opening day?

I have a good buddy that always does this and I can't decide if I want to do it this year or not.

Anyone else do this? Is it a good idea?

I dont see it as a good idea, because you are just taking the risk of screwing it up. Your scent, getting spotted and etc.
i AGREE , ESPECIALLY IF YOUR HUNTING A BIG MATURE DEER, stay out until everything is right..... wind, weather etc....

I usually hang my stands early and don't go back until I hunt them.I can't spook them If I'm not there.

Hang em then leave til hunting season and the wind direction is right for that particular stand. If I did a good jump scouting, the deer will be there on opening day. However with that said, I do plan on building a condo blind next year over a 4 acre summer plot for the family to observe deer from.
