Hello. Recently procured a Martin Super Diablo on fleabay and USPS gonna USPS. Bow showed up with one limb poking though the box.

Looking for some recommendations on repair. Going to look at matching/gluing/sanding a bit of wood. Curious what type of stain or sealant they use on the tips. Cant really tell if it is a stain or a brushed on sealant. Any recommendations for repair are appreciated.

Poor packaging by the seller for one; the tips should be the main concern. Two, are you sure it wasn't that way prior to shipping? Regardless, it looks like the veneer. I'd just smooth it out and shoot it. You could probably use some matching wood filler if you're a bit more particular.

not structural where it is,
so id just wipe a bit of poly on it to seal it and consider it a battle scar.

OR

if you have a belt sander,
shape the tip smaller and do the other tip to match.

Not a bowyer at all, but I'd fill it with epoxy and reshape/smooth it.

Mix some sawdust with epoxy, fill, shape, and sand...

Might try and find some stain or wood dye that matches to add to the sawdust and epoxy. Colored pencil leads work incredibly well.

Yeah I already patched with Wood Epoxy. My plan is to dye as close as I can get, then reapply the same or similar finish as indicated in pictures to the belly of the entire tip. Just not sure what they used...

a bit of wipe on polyurethane would do it just fine.
