Decided to try the spitfire xp 100's. Previously I used the sonic 100's. Bow is tuned well (I think??) and the sonics and fieldpoints hit the same spot.

I shot the spitfires tonight and they hit about 4-5 inches high. Left and rights are good they are just high. ANy idesa????

I was thinking that the length of the spitfire changed the spine ehough to make a difference. I am right on the line according to the easton chart between 400's and 340's.

Suggestions?????

They should shoot right there if your bow is truly in tune. The Spitfires should not be long enought to alter spine or FOC.
If you are sure it is in tune, you might be getting some porpoising and there could be several issues with it there. That might have to do with your nock point. Do a search here for paper tuning and walk back tuning and take a look at it. There are some good diagrams with the walk back tuning on here. You might want to try retuning with these two methods if arrow flight is still erratic and your groups are larger than you have had.

Spit fires

Regnar, I shoot my bow at 67# 30 in. draw, right on the line between 400 and 340 spine. I find I get more consistant groups with the 340s. Every once in a while with the 400s I would notice an arrow in the target at a slight angle. Arrows are Beeman ICS, Bow is Trykon XL. My Spit fires fly to the same point as my field points. I do think you might have a nockpoint issue, but you might want to give the 340s a try.

You might check for string stretch. I ran into the same problem a couple of years ago when switching to broadheads. Ever since then I shoot Winners Choice Strings and mark my cams to make sure it does not happen again.

Ok,

First of all, for everyone who says that their spitfires hit with their feild points. I KNOW, mine aren't and I know thats a problem, hence the question.

I re checked the bow tonight at the shop. THe knocking was way high. I moved the rest and the first time I shot feild points they hit EXACTLY where the spitfires were hitting. Tommorow I will shoot the broadheads (cant shoot bh's at the indoor range). I suspect that I will have to move the rest back a little to get them to group together.

Also, before I moved the rest I shot a field point and a bareshaft. THe bare shaft was WAY high. After moving the rest it was only an inch high.

Looks like I should be all set.

Whilst some hunters disagree with me, I am a firm believer in the paper test. The very, very first thing that I do is paper test my bow and ensure that I have a perfect bullet hole. This tells me that my arrow is leaving my bow perfectly and will travel straight - all I then need to do is to set my distances. Distances cannot be set with an untuned bow as you get all sorts of deviation as the distance gets further.

Your 20 and your 60 yard impact line should not have any left or right deviation if oyur bow is tuned 100%.

Happy hunting.
