I was hoping the title would draw some attention.

Actually, my problem comes from the "great job" the proshop did putting the strings on my bow. Needless to say, I am going to fix it myself. In defence of the shop that put the strings on, I did call them and raise hell because they had my bow sitting on the ground for three weeks behind the counter. Their response, "We aren't a professional shop and never will be." No Kidding...but I digress.

I had the bow sitting in a horizontal position and put my hand on the string I was really suprised how easy it was to push the string down...almost to the cables without a lot of effort. Also, when holding the bow by the string in the horizontal position, the string starts to bend. I don't know if this is normal. I have attached pictures. Am I being too picky?

The thing shot 283fps with fuse strings and is now shooting 286fps with WC strings so I assume that all is ok. Just didn't feel right.

Cam draw stop timting is way out of wack. So I am going to work on it.

Just so you can see what I am talking about, I have attached pictures of that too.

If you live in Portland, OR and want to know the name of the shop PM me and I will tell you.

I just got new strings put on my Hoyt Vipertec, they are winners choice. They were built by a shop owner I go to. Here is a pic of me holding the bow similar to the way you are in your second pic to give you an idea.

Bull Hunter,
If you ever get up towards Washington State, bring your bow and stop in at Olympic Archery near Olympia, Washington. The people there are FANTASTIC and They Are Real, True Professionals! They will treat you right, they will super tune your bow and they won't charge you an arm and a leg for the work!

Here is their Contact Info:
OLYMPIC ARCHERY

If you go to them, please tell them that grandpawrichard says a BIG Howdy! I Highly Respect that shop and all of the people that work there!

(I live over 100 miles north of them, but I do send a lot of people to them because of their Professionalism!)

My advise, learn to set your bow up yourself.

While I have been to many "good" shops, and not to take anything away from them the truth of the matter is that I am the only one who is as picky about my bow as I would like to be.

With respect to your rig, your top cam is overrotated pretty far, which is why the string feels spongy at rest. I am willing to bet that it also feels spongy at full draw and your nock travel has got to be hellacious in the last 2" or so of string travel. I would be willing to bet your rest is set up to be something like 1/8" or better nock high. When in time, my Trykons tune best when set up with the nock level to the rest.

I would say that using Javi's procedure is the way to go. I have used it on the 6 hoyts I own and have been able to get the cams in perfect time, every time.

Just a couple of quick notes on the trykon.

1) This bow is very picky about cam lean. You have to make sure that your ATA is perfectly the same on both sides or you will get a right tear you can't get rid of. After setting the ATA on both sides, look from the cam down the string and see if you can see any misalignment. Twist the yoke as necessary to get the string to come straight off the cam track.

2) Javi's procedure has you leave the bow about 1/4" long when setting the buss cable. For my Trykon, I found that leaving it about 1/8" long worked out better in the end with everything coming right into spec.
