Who uses them???

I have tried the ones Third hand sold and I have made my own. I can't imagine using a climber without them.

I will never use a climber without thirdhand or some kind of straps again. Before I used them I had an incident where the bottom portion of my stand slipped off of one foot as I was coming down the tree. While trying to get it right, the entire bottom section slid down the tree. I was still 10-12' up the tree, supported by my arms only. Luckily, I was able to transfer myself to a position where I was hanging by my hands and push off of the tree to jump away. Nothing hurt except my pride and a puckered anus. But I learned a very important lesson. Use any and all safety equipment wisely and wear a safety harness with lineman's strap or lifeline every time you leave the ground.

So here is another one I have only seen as factory on Ol'man stands. There is a strap than runs from the foot platform to the seat portion where the foot stirrups are and to the V on top. Even if the bottom comes loose it stays level and I use it to help when climbing. I pull up on it as my knees have lost some range of motion. I put a simple plastic buckle at the top with a loop so it is easy to remove.

I actually use mine to help pack my stand for transport.

Everybody stay safe this year.

I do at least one practice run during the summer with my stands so I am fluid and confident in their use coming fall hunting season. This was a couple weeks ago when I was prepping my Cougar Claw climber. The photo was after ascending, descending and climbing off, so the stabilizer straps are loose but not disconnected. Knowing I won't lose the bottom section and then cinching them down at desired height so the two climber sections become a solid unit is priceless.
