Wanting to buy a good pole saw to clear some shooting lanes and brush. Thinking about the stihl HT 56 or Stihl HT131 but thinking for twice the price that would be over kill. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I borrow that saw from a friend each year. I only use it for about an hour each time but return it cleaned up and fueled up. I also want one but can't justify the price for how much use I would get out of it. They are nice. When we can't use his saw we resort to the fiberglass saw/pruner that is on the extendable pole which may be your most economical bet.

Which one the 56 or 131? And how do you like it. I can justify 350.00 but the 669.00 that's hard to swallow.. It comes with 4 year warranty so that helps. And I have two leases and am gonna do food plots in the timber next year so it would get used for sure.. Between both leases I have 20 stands..

I would get the shindawa, it is longer and you can use various attachments (weed eater, hedge trimmer, etc.) it is balanced perfect.
don't get a echo power pruner, I got one once, it was so freaking heavy, it was very long though. It was a nice saw, but just not balanced right.

now I do have a stihl manual pole saw, and I would not trade it for anything, and that is what I use 9 times out of 10.
it comes with a saw head, pruning head and 2 sections, I bought a 3rd and can get over 20 feet. it is a awesome tool and well worth the investment.
I thought about getting the silky, but I am glad I went with stihl, having sections that snap together is a lot better, plus being fiberglass over aluminum, you don't
have to worry about it getting bent. if you ever break something you can just go to a dealer and get the specific part you need, not a whole new saw.

The more expensive one that is why I look at them when I am back in IL in the fall and summer and just go no way can I justify buying one for that $$$

I have a Stihl Kombi unit with the pole saw attachment. I have the KM 130 and the KM 90 at two different properties, I'd suggest the 130 to run the pole saw efficiently. I have used it on everything from 6" trees to little brush without issue. It is a little heavy to carry to the woods, but I only do it a couple times a year for lane clearing, but light enought to use in a stand without worry. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again.

I have another question I'm gonna buy the pole saw tomorrow.. I hunted today in the stand I'm gonna put my fiance in and she needs better shooting lanes.. My question is would it be a bad Idea to go in tomorrow and clear these lanes and hunt Friday? She is not gonna hunt till next weekend but my boy is gonna take one of the other corn field stands. And I don't want to go in two my other stands till the corn is down and the rut is starting.. Not sure what to do... It's a 2hr drive and if I'm gonna make the trip I'm gonna hunt.. It is supposed to storm all day/night tomorrow and then clear up Friday but windy 15mph but the wind will be perfect for this stand location... Another option would be go in clear lanes and hunt East side of lease pop up a ground blind and hunt it.. And help greatly appreciated..

I'm hunting in Illinois I have heard saws running around me.. But no one has hunted this property for 5 year's.. So I have been very careful and been there almost every weekend for the last month either pulling cards or hanging stands. Have kept my 4 wheeler use to a minimum used for hanging stands and checking cams once. I think with the rain and storms moving through today tonight and tomorrow I should be OK.. If it ruins my hunt for Friday she will be good to go for next weekend.. It's her first year and there is just no way I can have her shooting through the lanes that are there. I would be OK and it's great cover.. But for her she needs it opened up..

I ended up buying the HT 56.. I must say wow this thing is great.. It made quick work for clearing.. It does jump some on small stuff. And it is a work out using it.. I lift 5 day's a week and consider myself to be in pretty good shape. And this thing gave me a WO.. So if you have trouble getting around or not really upper body strong make sure you have someone with to help you out.. I cut a few limbs that were 18 to 20 inches and made cut underneath then finished cut on top and worked like a charm..

congrats. they will wear you down, that is why I love my shindawia, it is balanced perfect. the power pruner I had prior (echo's pro model) was not balanced properly and would just wear your shoulders out in no time.
