Straight or bent is up to you. They're different forms. Use the way that works best for you.
Some people can't shoot straight armed without hitting their arm.
Keep the grip clear of your life line as Myk has shown play around with positions to find the one that give the least torque. If you are still in pain open your stance a little after that we start looking at the structure of your draw cycle. This is all assuming that your setup is correct as in draw length. The best way is to join a club with a good coach conversant with modern shooting techniques. But don’t go for gadgets until you have your form and bow set correctly

Sounds to me your draw length is way to long. Get that checked first because the more you shoot it that way the more chance a bad habit will form and be tough to get rid of later when you do get the right length.
