what's the best string stop to put on an older model bowtech? will be getting a 2007 bowtech tribute looking to put a string stop on it to reduce noise and vibration....also what about limb dampeners? bowjax, limbsaver or ???

The Tribute was my all time favorite bow that I never had the money to buy when i was in college. I just had a "new to me" closet queen powder coated and have been going through a build and tune on it. I have a Norway string tamer on my and that is all it really took to make it quiet and take the twang out of it. They don't make the model i have anymore but i am sure the new one would perform just as well. I don't even shoot string silencers or speed nocks. A good STS or Norway string stop should be all you need IMOP.

I shot an STS for years but a tech stripped it out. They have the best adjustabilty and pad but I believe its just a set screw snugged tight against a piece of aluminum bar.

I currently shoot a string tamer with an sts pad. Looks great. Throw away the cushion washer they give you it just doesnt hold (replace cushion washer with stainless steel washers to desired length). Also, make sure you locktite all the set screws and wrap electrical tape around the base when installing to the riser so you dont scratch the finish. My bow is completely dead in hand with a string stop, 10" doinker, HHA, and a QAD. I just ordered a new bow but I cant say enough good things about my Tribute. I have gone through many stabs over the years and the doinker I have seems to kill the vibe the best.

MeanV string stops are the lightest, cleanest looking, best aftermarket string stops available and they mount directly in line with the string in the back threaded hole behind the stabilizer hole. If you're looking for a stabilizer that is light, but makes a big difference in the feel of the bow, try a 7" Bowtech Octane Hunter stabilizer and add a Sims stabilizer enhancer to the end of it. I also use 3 speed nocks on each end of the main string, with the first one set 1" from the end of the cam, then the other two set toward the center of the string, butted up against the first one. I'm also a fan of the old tried and true catwhiskers. Installed tightly on the string, they will put the finishing touch on your Tribute to make it one of the quietest, most shock free bows you will ever shoot.

I have never shot a Tribute.......BUT be careful. I have owned 2 Commanders and an Admiral and found out that the bows were so quiet the string hitting the stop actually made them louder. I tried different ends, softer, V shaped etc and it was still added a slapping noise. I removed the strip stop later.

On other bows the string stops helped a LOT..........so IMO it depends on the bow and how it's setup whether the string stop helps you or hurts you.

I'm shooting a pretty heavy arrow and cat whiskers and even went away from drop away rests for the same reason. If the bow is super quiet it's amazing what turns into the "louder" noises.
