I am contemplating getting a STS rear/single for my 05 Allegiance. It is time for a new Winner's Choice string before hunting season and I was trying to decide if I should get the STS. My other option was to add BowJax's to the cables and some rubber cat's whiskers to the string. That option costs less.
I am a bit hesitant on the STS due to cost and having something bulky added to the bow. I am not sure I would like the metal bar right there.
Thoughts????

The one main thing the STS does for you that string silencers and vib. dampeners do not is it stops the string. The big difference here is that it eliminates the tendency for the bow to turn in you hand as the string follows through. I'm not sure if this actually does anything to improve shooting or not but it certainly feels better in your hand.

Let me see if I can attach the picture that I think STS should use as their advertisement:

sts

i actually just took my whiskers off my LX and put an sts on. My fps went up and the shock in my hand was less. It was a big win for me. Like the pic above shows it will stop the string follow through big time.

How does it do on

quieting down the bow? Would you say it is worth the money as opposed to whiskers and bowjaxs?
This is a hunting bow so the less bulk the better.

quieting down

It quieted down the bow probably the same as the whiskers because I can't tell the diff from when I had the whiskers on now. My bow is pretty quiet anyway. As far as the thing getting in the way I haven't even noticed the thing really.

I would agree. I have mine on both my Apex & Switchback the latter being my hunting bow. The STS doesn't weigh a whole lot and I can't tell any weight difference when it is on or off. The SB is already a really quiet bow but it does make a difference. My buddy has an almost identical setup to mine and there is noticeably less post shot string noise on mine. Now, he killed several deer last year with just the stock suppressors and nothing else so it isn't like the difference is huge. On the SB the biggest thing is that the bow just doesn't move after you shoot.

On the Apex . . . what a difference . . . way quieter, no vibration with the STS.

A question about this string stopping business if I may. Since the stopper is round, doesn't it stand to reason that as the string collides with the stopper, it is destined to fall off one side or the other, causing string deflection? If your string hits it dead center perfect every time, then maybe not. I bet it could be tested with powder to see if the string travels sideways along the sts. When I had an sts on my last bow, the string did pop by the stopper on occasion.

Thoughts?
