Suggestions welcome for replacement crossbow

Good morning, all. Quick background: my Barnett Whitetail Hunter II was my go to bow for hunting. It has killed plenty of deer. I was sighting it in a few weeks ago, let my rangefinder fall in between the string. I pulled the trigger and stars. Panicked, I made sure there was no blood, because the string basically ripped the lanyard to the rangefinder off my neck and the lanyard popped me in the nose. Ouch. And I'm a dumbass. No harm, no foul. Rangefinder still worked, no visible signs of damage on the crossbow. (CAUTIOUSLY) shot one more bolt, it hit where it was supposed to. Great. Take it out the next day to hunt. Put the crosshairs on the V from 25 yards away, complete miss. Next day, different deer, 30 yards, crosshairs on V, another complete miss. Go back to sighting it in, this thing it all over the place.

Here's my conundrum. I thought about replacing the strings and cables which run about $110 from 60x, but I bought the bow on clearance for $125, and I would possibly need to replace something else that may have broken. Currently I'm using my Kronicle and have killed 3 deer so far this year, which I also bought on clearance for $75, but it's a boat anchor. On my way back to the field yesterday to hunt, I bumped into someone sighting in their new Barnett XP370. He said he just got it for $300 and it came with a crank cocker.

What would you suggest as a replacement bow? Or would you have the old one repaired? I was thinking instead of fixing the Barnett to just start over with a new bow, and accept the ordeal as a lesson learned. Or maybe I'm overthinking it. Your thoughts are welcome.
