Is it just me or is it uncomfortable as all get out? I am considering upgrading to the HSS. I know it was free..but man is it cumbersome and not that great.

might be the safest....

Just purchased a HSS from Dicks sporting goods today on sale 59.95 Feels real good.

Not Uncomfortable for me

I like the Summit harness. Easy to put on and adjust.
I did take off that funky "rams horn" thing-a-magingy. I replaced it with a climbers carabiner... much faster to put on and take off.

You won't be "upgrading" to a HSS...... the crotch straps are "killers"

yeah I've heard that HSS will smash your family jewels. I like my Summit...

I didn't think my summit harness was uncomfortable until I found out it was on the recall list.

I upgrade to the Loggy Bayou harness and it is heads and shoulders better than the "free" summit harness.
