What are your guys' opinions on Swarovski 15x56 vs. vortex Kaibab 15x56.

I have 10x42 swarovski and they were expensive but amazing. Now i need something bigger. The swarovski 15x56 are nice but really expensive! The Kaibabs are nice too and cheaper. But is quality the same?

What should i do! Help!

Kaibabs are awesome for sure. I may get a piar of the Kaibabs.

I do realize the qaulity of Sworvski as well. One couldnt go wrong with either.

Check out the Minox 15x58 ED's at Cameraland that Doug is selling for 1/2 of what the Kaibab's are. The Minox's were originally $1149. I discussed both the Swaro's and the Kaibab's with Doug, and he recommended the Minox's. Not because they are better than the Swaro's, but they are a decent big glass option at a great price. I bought some in May and I love them so far.:thumbs_up

I went with the Kaibabs because the difference in performance was a lot closer than the difference in price. They fill the gap between my 10x42s and my spotter.

I bought the swarovski 15x56 slc 10 years ago for $1200 brand new. I have taken good care of them and feel I could sell them for much more than I paid for them. I do not think you could plan on that with the competitors brands. Good glass is probably your best hunting gear investment you can make. Buy the swarovski glass!

I also have the swaro 15x56 and they are awesome , used them yesterday for scouting and even handheld I did well but on the tripod they really shine and I could spot for hours , very easy on the eyes .Get the best you can afford the swaros will hold the value very well and the kaibabs are great glass also but I went with the swaros .

I have the Minox 15x58, great glass for the price and custome service is great. I recently had them reconditioned after they got bumped on my last hunt and they were returned good as new for no charge. That being said when I put them next to my brothers Swaros there is no contest. I only use them on rifle hunts which is maybe once every two years, so it would be silly for me to spend that kind of coin on something else. Do a little research on the Kaibabs, I seem to remember a blind study review between some of the big glass where they scored very high, if Im not mistaken a pair of Zeiss beat out all of the others, and came in around $1000. Whatever you decide you will be doing yourself a dis-service if you dont go to cameralandny.com and look at those prices, Doug stands behind all of his products.

I have the [older] 15x60 Zeiss, and if I was buying something like a 15x now it would be a tough call. The reason is- as Bob mentioned- the additional price you pay for something like the Swaros is only a minor improvement over some of the others at $$ hundreds less. Also it would depend how much I'm using them- I end up using my 15x rarely.

I would find a dealer that will let me take both outside and compare side by side long range in low light. I've got Swaro and Leica 10x, heard good things about the Minox- don't know the Kaibab.

I have the Kaibabs in 18x, and use them strickly for tripod glassing canyons and such. For what I need them they work great. I have paired them against my hunting friends swaros 15x and doctors 15x and mines are about even, if they were the 15x kaibabs they would not hold a candle to the higher end binos.
I don't think that I can save enough for the same pair of power binos in either swaros or leicas (have a family of 3 so budget always changes). Only reason I got the kaibabs was due to a 50% off special vortex was offering to prior service members this December, if not for this then id still be using my 12x leuopolds.

there is NO comparison! my buddy bought the Kaibabs for a tag he drew last year, and I got him sold on a pair of 10X swaros, glassing long range, he was using his 10X swaros the whole time, and promptly sold the kaibabs after that hunt. there is no way I would buy kaibabs, my 10X swaros work better at any range, the kaibabs are very hazy next to swaros, and the higher magnification, the more critical good glass is. I would get the swaros and be done with it.

same friend had some 12X zeiss conquest, and sold them for a good deal.... they were ok, but nothing special. if you are gonna fork over that much money, get something you will love, and not feel the desire to upgrade.... good glass may be expensive, but lower end glass is way more expensive considering the whole "upgrading" process, which will eventually lead you back to alpha glass anyways, but buying and selling cheaper glass is a good way to give away lots of money.... it's just how it is.... lots of us have been there
