I have seen in pics different backstops that have been built. Hay, compressed cardboard, and such. I have thought about going to the local cotton gin and buy a "mote bale" which is a trashy cotton bale used to stuff mattresses. I have access to and can probably put together just about anything.

What have you guys seen that really works well, releases the arrow well and stays together in the weather.

Any thoughts?

I have seen the cardboard backstop behind some targets with arrows stuck in it. From what they said that stuff is hard to pull from.

The mote bale I had deteriorated badly in the weather. I may not have covered it well enough, but is lasted about a year.

Go to a window place and ask for their scrap window screen. Its weatherproof so it lasts forever but depending on the size of your target it does take alot to stuff it but most places will just give it to you cause they throw it out anyways! It has worked great for me for a long time now!!!
