Of all the ones shown this one is my favorite. I like the way the head is nestled into the hide. IT makes it look like they're still attached to each other.

I believe that’s called a pack mount. Super weird.

 

I think that actually looks pretty cool. Not everyone shoots a giant, for years a skull plate or a european mount was the only option for smaller bucks but this one looks like a pretty nice way to display a smaller buck.

My cousin has a bighorn sheep that is a regular shoulder mount, except the taxidermist incorporated the skin of the rear end in the back ground. Sheep have that cool looking, rusty red... ( ) shaped butt marking. Kind of like an elk.

Ya, not my cup of tea. Those mounts are really well done and I respect the craft, but I find it really odd as you’d never roll up a hide and pack it out. If that was a thing, I’d understand it....

 

I hunt in CT, I walk two miles to my stand sometimes more through some of the thickest and nastiest terrain. Dragging it out whole would be impossible. If and when I kill a buck that deep I'm going to have to quarter it up, but first skin it, so I can get a similar mount.

 

I like it, especially if you did pack the deer out on a pack frame.

Wow pretty cool display never seen it done as a taxidermy mount.

 

I too think it is unique rather than weird.....but not if you drove your ATV or sidexside to the deer and tossed it on the back. If that is how you hunt, it captures the memory vividly.

 

Older thread I know, but this is the pack mount I did of my 2018 buck. I think it turned out awesome!! Retired the stand that year (killed lots of deer from that lone wolf) and thought, why not make it part of a mount lol. Some may hate it, but I love it

 

I think it looks pretty cool and I dig the idea. I may do something like this down the road.

 

First I’ve ever seen a mount like that. I’ll pass. To each his own.

 

How do these price compared to a full shoulder mount?

 

I've never seen a bear mount that I really cared for, but this pack mount idea could have potential for a bear in my mind.

Not sure I'm crazy about it for a deer though. Maybe I need to warm up to it.
