If you are sitting all day, the Fanatic set at those temps is fine. If you are moving or have a long trek to you hunting location you will be sweating like a fat kid in the attic.

I wear my Fanatic set at all temps below 35. My Stratus set takes me down to 35.
So would my Sitka set be way to warm for those temps ???

A lot of it depends on where you are from and what you are used to. I live in west Texas and 40* is frigid to me. I wear my fanatic vest a lot when it gets to 40 or below. Ppl from up north think I'm crazy.

I don’t use the fanatic bibs because I’m fine with stratus pants and first lite furnace base under them when it gets to around freezing. Once I slip on the furnace base is the same time I bust out the fanatic jacket. I do run warm though

40 and below I'm tossing the bibs on. My legs get cold super easy.

So I recently just picked up a bunch of outfits from Sitka. Picked up early and mid season setups as well as the Fanatic Jacket to add on top for later season. I'm not rich by any means, but I did some work for Sitka Corporate so they hooked me up with a nice discount. 11/11 I was the last time I was out in IL. It was about 40* and all I was wearing was the Traverse pants, the Fanatic Hoodie, and I had the Stratus jacket just in case it got cold but didn't end up needing it. Even here in Illinois if it was in the low 30s I think that the Stratus pants, Fanatic Hoodie, and Fanatic jacket would be fine. The Fanatic jacket is REALLY warm, so I wouldn't even wear that unless it's late season and 30 or below

What base layers are you wearing under your outerwear, mid-layer? The guys that say it's too hot are you wearing nothing under it? As expensive as Sitka is they would have a better "guide" for a temp. range. I know it varies between people etc. and I think humidity plays a big part too.

so it kind of depends the traverse pants are really light and great for early season and part of Oct/nov but once it starts dipping below 40, you’ll either wanna step up to the stratus pants or where Marino wool base layer. The stratus series by itself is probably OK for 30s and 40s, but this will also depend on your tolerance to cold in the midwest I’m pretty used to below zero temperatures and run hot as it is

I don't break my Fanatic jacket out until it is below freezing. It is too warm for me otherwise.

About a week ago it was 25* when I left the truck at 4:00AM. I walked in wearing only a midweight merino on top. Once I got settled in the tree I put my Fanatic Jacket on and had to keep it halfway unzipped, I was roasting. Humidity was really low and wind was minor.

My Sitka gear runs from lightweight early season thru Stratus for temps to the upper 20's with good base layering. I have a Fanatic vest and picked up a pair of Incinerator bibs for late season.....that have yet to be in the woods. It was been unseasonably warm this fall, but we just got a cold snap and woke up to some wet sloppy snow overnight. I would not wear Fanatic to hike, but it should be good for 30's amd below.

I think a lot of it depends on other aspects of the hunt other than temp. I try to get away from any bulk at all so I've invested in my mid layers. I have the Pnuma heated layers (pants and shirt) for tree stand hunting. If I'm in your shoes, at 30-40 degrees, I'm looking at how far I have to walk (I'll walk in wearing base layers and pack my Fanatic set), what the wind is like, dampness (damp at that temp makes it colder), and how long I'm planning to be out. Like I said, I like a lot less bulk, so I'll pack in a heavier suit to have less clothing on if that makes sense. To answer your question, if it is snowing and damp then yes, I'm wearing the Fanatic with just the heated base layers and feel like I could be out all day. If I'm only looking at 3 or 4 hours and have a long walk, I'm probably using the Stratus with the heated base layers and a fleece mid layer.

Edit: if I'm in the mountains and covering some miles, then I'm not touching that Fanatic or those Pnuma layers with a ten foot pole.

I’ll be up there with you chasing bear as well and here’s my thoughts. I know what you paid for your gear as I have the same clothing. If you are truly hunting in prime bear habitat it’s gonna be too much and it’s gonna be hard on it. I wear my Sitka in my treestand and that’s about it. If you are one of the 13 percent of hunters who harvest a black bear in Pa most likely you have a heck of a drag ahead of you, doing that in fanatic gear they will be dragging you and your bear out. Good luck friend

Great point....can't wear my stratus at mid 20s, even with layers....that's when the fanatic or one of my body suits come out (Heater Body Suit or Arctic Shield Body Suit)
