I currently run a 50 lb omen as my primary hunting bow. It's shooting 435 grains at 280 which is about perfect.

Picked up this expedite nxt on trade for a hoyt I didn't shoot well. Maxed it out and sent a few arrows through it. This thing COOKS!

It's verbage and legalese. I moved here from AZ and really inquired local sheriff's about all the laws so I wasn't breaking any. A bow uncased in the backseat is considered not readily accessible in the eyes of the law because to be able to fire it is next to impossible. For a firearm and xbow I doubt it would fly in the cab unless in a case or locked. Granted, in legalese you're always running the risk of having to prove your side in court so DO NOT USE MY ADVICE AS LEGAL ADVICE. I did my own research for myself in my local area.
Well I received a ticket for in proper cased bow in my truck since it wasn't enclosed. I didn't do research I just was shown the rules and given a ticket when the federal national Huron forest guy called the DNR to check me since I was a smart azz to him.

Man that's crazy.
You should have explained to him.
It's hard to road hunt with a bow, if you see a deer you have to take your release arm and unhook the release from the bow, roll down the window just a few inches because it's cold out there and range the deer, check wind direction after you find out he is 32 yards, verify he is trying to get old acorns covered by snow, then you have to get out close the truck door and get a shot off.
Not near as easy as they think it is with a compound bow on a cold snowy day.
You should have fought that in court with a free lawyer.
These laws are getting out of hand if you ask me.

I own a bow case.. it's somewhere down in the basement. Never in my life have I taken a bow case when buying a bow from a shop.

Luckily in wv, we have some freedom left. They don't care where the weapon is as long as it's unloaded. We also have constitutional permit less carry.

Moral of the story, as long as you aren't doing coke, meth, or heroin in the vehicle, they pretty much leave us alone. And that's how I prefer it.

I could not shoot a compound bow out the window of a car. No way. Maybe a crossbow would work.

I’ve never taken the bow case with me, in fact I haven’t always had a bow case.

I guess you could roll it up in a blanket. That’s a lot tougher to access than a case with a zipper.

it’s a bs law

Big key word here, 'or'. Law just states it needs to be 'unloaded' which is pretty much always unless you're shooting lol. Back seat counts as not readily accessible View attachment 7785955
Now that’s un-American. Got to have your slingshots in a case or in a place that is in accessible while in the car. Lol officer he shot me with a marble. SMH

Sounds more like it's one of those laws written simply to generate revenue.

It sounds like it wouldn’t have mattered, sounds like it was more of a personal problem than a protect and serve situation…. A ticket written in spite
