Thumb or Hinge release for kids?

Who makes a small release for kids? Two of my boys (8 and 9 years old) would like to get away from a wrist release and use a thumb or hinge.
They shoot 4-5 days a week now and are looking to get better so they can compete.

COVID shut downs hit me pretty hard so I’ll be looking for budget conscious options.
Thank you for any help.

My son is twelve. He uses a sweetspot. It's a three finger, but he uses it as a four finger because of his smaller hands.

Try a Scott HEX. It's a hinge on a strap. The way it's designed you pull back with the strap and it keeps the pressure where it needs to be to prevent getting punched in the mouth. They wont shoot it through the bow either. I shoot one and love it. They will be able to get their fingers on it.

A few years ago my daughter would end up during the summer about 3 years in a row ask if she could shoot with me so I would set up a little bow and hand her a release. She shot thumb triggers and hinges each summer, I treated it kind of like a experiment to see how she could function with them. Overall she shot about the same each summer with either release. She was a total beginner so there really was no performance goal, she just shot and hit a bulleseye from time to time and was excited.

The last summer that she shot I believe she was about 11 years old and we went to a tournament and she was shooting 10s and 12's most of the time with her little fang small thumb trigger.

Over those years she shot:

Fang small 3 finger thumb trigger
Scott longhorn hinge
tru ball sweetspot hinge
tru ball incredible thumb trigger.

Overall I did very little coaching and just let her enjoy. With the thumb trigger I showed her how to yield in a matter of minutes and she caught on, I know at times she went ahead and helped the trigger fire by pulling the trigger. But she even commented that she shot better when she didn't do that.

With the hinge I did even less instruction, I simply told her to rotate it nice and slow.

Budget-Wise you're looking at the Tru Ball Fang Mini and the Rave.

If you're willing to throw a little more money at it (Christmas is coming) then your options become much more open:

Stan Perfex LN M or S
Cobra Harvester
Hot Shot Eclipse
Nock2it Mini
Carter EZs
Stan SX3 M
Stan Shootoff M
Carter Too Simple

Many of these are small enough for a young person to shoot comfortably but aren't so small that they'll grow out of them.

Tru-Fire has the Sear Mini - 20" smaller than original. Brass, coated, kind of heavy. Multi position pulling post, 4 position moon (smooth, click - cold, med, hot). Adjustable cold/hot setting. 3 finger with 4 finger attachment.
