I bought a bow yesterday that came with a TKO dropaway. So far I much prefer my old quicktune 1000 & 3000.

When I draw briskly, it flips the arrow about 1-1/2" high and it clacks back down on the rest or sometimes off the rest. Is there something I am doing wrong. I am sure someone will advise shooting higher poundage so I can barely draw, or draw real slow, but this is my hunting bow.
Is there a setup issue, or do I just have to take it easy?
Is there and advantage to a dropaway if I don't have fletch contact with a prong style?

And lastly: Has anyone seen the new Easton HIT aluminum arrows that are swaged down on the point end? How does that work with any rest, do you have to have 3" sticking past?

Adjust your rest so that it only drops about 1/2" (just enough to clear the fletch if you nock your arrow upside down). Try different timing setups to determine what works for you and gives acceptable tuning characteristics and accuracy.

Not if your bow and arrows are tuned to each other.

The Axis can be cut to the same length as your other arrows. The HIT (hidden insert tech.) is just a small diameter insert with no external shoulder.

Bob, I am talking about the XX75 HIT arrows, not the Axis. They have a taper at the point insert like an X7 cobalt has at the nock.

Doug, I am pulling alot less than I can, I am not really jerking, but it seems that my rest pops up if I draw with the same speed that I normally do. Is the rope to the rest suppose to be solid or elastic? Mine is solid.

SuperX, I don't use a loop. I attach directly to the string under the nock for slight downward pressure on the rest.

Some folks are using springs and or elastic cord to pull their launchers up (not me).

Haven't seen the business end of the Nex75's yet.....one of things that makes me ask "what's the point of this "innovation"".

Two things could be happening:

1. First CHECK by raising the arrow rest BY HAND, slowly to see if it is sticking....someone may have overtightened the thing and it is hanging up and then suddendly letting loose...if that is the case, ridding yourself of the stickiness will most likely remedy the problem.

2. The rest could be coming up to full height WAY EARLY...NO NEED to get the rest up (nor down) too early....if it is coming up too early in the draw cycle, then you are putting a strain on the cord and your down cable on the bow...NEITHER of which are good...Simply re-timing the rest so that it reaches full up only a couple of inches before full draw will remedy this...may need a longer cord to do this, however.

you do NOT NEED to have the rest rise and fall anymore than is necessary to insure the clearance of the vanes/feathers....the LONGER the arrow is supported, the easier it is to be consistent....get that rest falling immediately can be very critical and ruin accuracy....I like mine set so that the arrow is on the rest until about 2" before the vanes/feathers get there...you can check this by spraying the shaft with powder when at rest, from the arrow rest, back to the nock....the ONLY way you will have a rest line is then if the rest is still up...it will tell you EXACTLY when that rest is out of the way...and if it is falling too soon....inaccuracy and a critical setup result.

Hope these items help....If neither is the case in your instance...then you definitely need to slow down and NOT JERK the bow back quickly to full draw...NO NEED FOR THAT anyways...doing the quick draw routine is hard on the muscles and joints....especially with hunting weight equipment.

I have to agree with field, sounds like it's coming up too fast. It should not come up till the last bit of the draw cycle.
