Hi all,
As some of you may know, I am a noob archer (going on two weeks on Monday). I have the opportunity to buy one for $225 from someone that already has and uses this sight. He said he won it in a raffle and doesn't need a second one. I know that this is more sight than a noob like me needs, but am thinking about getting it anyway. I am of the mind that I can buy it and try it, if it doesn't work for me, I can sell it and recoup what I paid for it. Any thoughts?

Best sight on the market and $225 is a steal. If you don't want it tell me the guys info so I can buy it for that price.

Wow, that was quick.. lol. I checked out some videos on it and while the reviews were good, being new to archery, I wasn't sure if it was really that good or just good advertising. I looked around online and saw it as cheap as $335 so I kinda figured $225 was going to be a good price for one NIB. My biggest concern was whether it would help or hinder my learning process.

It's my favorite sight. But there's a few things that I changed on mine.

I'll get a list together and post it in a few minutes.

The standard x-41 scope sucks. Well at least the ring-pin that fits it sucks.
So, you'll want to upgrade the scope. The best that I've found is the HHA 5519. HHA Pro Series Scope (PRO 5519)

You'll also need an Axcel scope barrel. Axcel Scope Barrel

Lastly, depending on when the sight was made, it could have the old single screw third axis block. They have since upgraded the block to use two clamping screws.
Here's a link to a pic showing both versions. Accutouch sights 3rd Axis

If you have the old style, Axcel will send you the newer upgraded one free of charge.

The AV 41 scope on the newer ones is much much better than the old x41 scope.

If the sight you are buying has the X-41 scope, it definitely has the older version 3rd axis block.
You are going to want to call Axcel and have them send you the upgraded one.

I have a fast eddie on one of my hunting bows and that sight on my newer hunting bow. They are both terrific sights but to get the axcel the way I currently shoot it and like it, (hogg out of the box, can't beat it) I had to add a couple of things to the scope housing to make it work for me. At that price you can't go wrong.

Axcel uses a proprietary scope barrel on their scopes. So, you can't just swap one of their scopes to another sight.
BTW, scope just means pin housing. It can also hold a lens for magnification.

#32 ·
damn them and their proprietary scope barrels.. lol.
OK, so the scope is the actual part I look through for my aiming purposes. The part that allows me to zero it is a separate part. Correct?

#36 ·
So since we are talking about changing out the sight, what do you guys think of the 2 pin fast eddie? I use a single pin now but found the two lights on a single pin pretty interesting and convenient. Any thoughts? Is it any good?

#37 ·
The Fast Eddie is a really good sight, with a really good scope.

But it's also damn heavy.
Not quite as heavy as the Hogg-Father, but the Hogg-Father is probably the heaviest bow sight ever made.

If you want, you can put a Spot-Hogg double pin scope on the Accutouch Carbon Pro. I did that for a friend a couple years ago.
You just need to add a second pointer for the sight tape.

I personally only hunt with one pin, and will only hunt with one pin.
That's all that my tiny brain can handle when a buck that I really want to shoot is standing within bow range.

The problem with a heavy sight is that it's mounted so high on the riser, that it makes the bow unstable.
The sight is basically trying to flip the bow upside down.

If you want to add weight to a bow, you want to add it below the grip. Not above it.

Got ya, will the CBE Torx Hunting Stabilizer Kit help with that? I spoke to a buddy about how my bow feels unbalanced and he recommended getting something like this to help with that. Will it also help with having a heavier sight? As it stands, the bow I have is not an issue weight wise.

I have yet to find anything wrong with the X-41 or the AV-41 scopes. It isn't necessary but I have an LP light on my hunting bow and I've never used it in low light but it does come in handy in bright light on a light target. I have 2 X-41's and an AV-41 on 3 different sight setups.

#46 ·
The HHA 5519 scope doesn't need a LP light ever. Unless perhaps you are hunting from a dark box blind or ground blind.
And it has a strong pin that won't break or bend if a twig pokes into the scope housing.

I promise you that you will be happier with an HHA scope on your Axcel sight.
It's way better in every way.

$225 is a GREAT steal on this sight UNLESS you want to use it for hunting. It is a pure target sight and a dang good one but it would leave a lot to be desired as a hunting sight.

#44 ·
I use it as a hunting sight. It's the best hunting sight that I've ever used. It leaves nothing to be desired over any other hunting sight that I know of.
But the ring-pin does suck. So you gotta change the scope.

The Axcel Achieve is a pure target sight.

There’s a lot going on here.
to the OP, if you get this sight just leave it as until you find out more what shooting style you like and what you want out of your equipment. If you plan on using this as a hunting my opinion would be to look elsewhere. The carbon frame doesn’t take abuse like aluminum does and the slide wheel is slow and bulky for fast acquisitions. For 3D it’s excellent with a new scope, and if that’s your goal I wouldn’t waste my time with a spott hogg scope, id put a schrewd on it, but that’s personal.

but if your gonna buy this and then immediately put $150 into to make it something else then hour probab wasting your money.

for $350 you can get basically any hunting site that’s on the market made custom for you.

...........The carbon frame doesn’t take abuse like aluminum does and the slide wheel is slow and bulky for fast acquisitions............
BS.

The carbon bar is at least as durable as any aluminum bar, and the slide adjusts quicker and slicker than snot.
Granted the site tape ratio is one-to-one, while the Fast Eddie and Hogg-Father have a gear reduction.

The only weakness that the Accutouch ever had, (other than the scope) was that it wasn't too difficult to bump the 3rd axis out of position.
But the new (free) 3rd axis block has solved that problem.

Spending $100 to upgrade the scope to something much more reliable than the Ring-Pin isn't a waste of money.
And you cannot get a better hunting sight for $350. No way, no how.

By the way.... I sure did misread your post. I thought you said Axcel Achieve.

The Accutouch is a GREAT hunting sight. I own three of them. Single pin, 3 pin and 5 pin.

How close can you set the clickers on the Accutouch?
That depends on your arrow velocity. At 274 FPS, I can set mine at 10 yard increments between 20 and 40 yards. Beyond that the scale widens, so you can set the detents tighter. By the time I'm out to 60 yards, I could set them in 5 yard increments.

I have mine set in 15 yard increments from 20 to 95 yards.

How fine is the wheel adjustment. Been interested in this one for awhile. That and the Achieve.
I'm not sure what you are asking.

The site tape is directly affixed to the elevation block.
There is no gear reduction whatsoever. The pin moves the exact same distance as the pointer moves on the tape.

First let me say thank you all for all of the info you have given me regarding this sight. It has been incredibly helpful with making the decision to buy it, unfortunately, the guy text me a while ago to let me know he sold it to someone else because they had cash in hand and was gave him $300 for it. While disappointed, I understood.
I had no plan to change my generic no name sight but after reading all of the info you guys put in so much time and effort to share with me, I am now thinking about getting something that will be a bit more durable and accurate than the no name brand I currently have. I did some looking around and am considering buying the Trophy Ridge React V5. It is half the price of the accutouch and seems to be something better suited to someone of my newbness. It is a multipin stacked one behind another to give the single pin aesthetic I prefer. I have a vendetta 2 on my bow and the thought of having that quick acquisition without having to adjust the sight housing seems to be a very good pairing with it. Any thoughts or experience on the Trophy Ridge React V5?
Thank you in advance, and as always, your time and input is very much appreciated.

It's a POS.
Any money spent on that sight is wasted.

Buy a dovetail slider sight.
If you don't do it now, you will eventually.

Any suggestions? The only other single pin I have seen that I like is the fast eddie because of the single pin with two aim points. What ya think about that one?
