I am in Soutnern Quebec and bow hunting started last Sat. I was just wondering if calling deer this time a year works or if it only works in pre-rut and rut?????
Early season bucks are just starting to break up from their bachelor groups. They will often respond to social grunts and light rattling. I've also had doe's respond to social grunts in the early season.
its never to early too call...rattling and tending grunts yes, but contact grunts never...in fact I killed a spike last thursday from contact grunts...
I heard that a yearling or 1.5 year old buck is the loneliest*(sp) deer in the woods because his mother has ran him off and other bucks run him off too
