Well how about instead of spending money on radio collars, sharpshooters, contraceptives and biologists...they turn loose a few hundred of mankinds most efficient wildlife managemnt tool...the BOWHUNTER to control the population?

Not only would they generate income they would control the population and allow people the opportunity to hunt.

Course PETA would have a fit :thumbs_do

Great plan. Next year the article will be talking about how there aren't any elk left and what are they going to do with all the wolves.

Read the July/August issue of Bugle Magazine if you want the truth about wolves :thumbs_do .

Exactly Jumpman. Biggest mistake Fish Wildlife service ever made. If any of you reading this live in CO and/or hunt CO for elk, and like numbers of elk you have, you better start writing a letter a day to your congressman showing your displeasure at this [email protected]$$ idea. You have those numbers because you do not have grizzlies and wolves. I am only going to say this once: YOUR ELK HERD WILL BE GONE INSIDE OF 15 YEARS. Because they will be federally protected and managed, your state folks will be handcuffed, you will not keep them inside any boundaries. It will be a smorgasboard, a shark in pool filled with baby seals. By the time you get FWS to admit there is a problem your elk numbers will be way down, then by the time your state agrees on a wolf management proposal you will really be sweating it. Wolves are a rolling tide of death and mayhem, period. They cannot co-exist peacefully with man, never in history, not an any continent, history proves that.

How they can even think of this is astounding. Just look at the Northern Yellowstone elk herd. Calf recruitment is down to 10%, 33% is necessary just to maintain an elk herd. The biologist know good and well, one nasty winter and there will be no elk hunting in that part of the state. Look at the north fork of the Flathead river drainage. Wolves have eaten themselves out of house and home. One wolf biologist even witnessed a pack trying to kill a sow griz and her cub. These predators are stepping on each other here. You do not want this. Sheeeeesh, the stupidity is laughable.

They have already said and in a big way I might add "NO" to bowhunters in the park that was brought up already and shot down faster
It will come down to Fed hunters thinning out the herd
What a waste
