I bought the viper xls year before last and sold it after the first month of bow season. I then bought a bushmaster and prefer it for bowhunting. But the viper is a lot easier to climb with, although the bushmaster isn't hard to climb with at all. The viper is really comfortable. I found it hard to stay awake on morning hunts. The reason i sold the viper was because i couldn't shoot seated because of the front bar. Other people say to raise the seat and shooting seated is easy, but my legs were too long and they hit the bar when i raised the seat. I do miss the ease of climbing and comfort since i've bought the bushmaster. I didn't know you could just buy the top assembly or i would have kept the viper for rifle hunting and just bought the bushmaster top for bowhunting.
