Yup I have, usually measure and cut a piece of 1/2 inch plywood cover wit about 3 inches of foam then staple a nylon or canvas cover over the foam. Always flip it over when i leave.
Nothing more comfortable than a gel seat pad. I work an orthopaedic hospital and are used on wheelchairs. You can also buy them at bed bath and beyond, around $30.
I have used these for padding to sit on before. You can cut multiple out of the mat. I would put down like 4 layers for a seat you're gonna spend a lot of time in. Cheap and effective. Closed cell foam so it doesn't soak up water.
