Anybody who has a Dick's in their area should look at the Comfort Zone Sentinel hang-on stands. Nicely built and on sale for $29.88. They also have 16' climbing sticks for $29.88.

How can you beat that for some extra stands? :)

Meleagris1 and I stocked up......

Heat Wave....

930 in the am, already well over 90 degrees...

So I hang a stand in my backyard to satisfy you picture junkies....in my boxers....

This is only 2 sections of the ladder, and the stand is much like me; hung low....

I might have to pick a few of these up.....I need about 3 more to cover my property in PA the way I want to. Thanks for the tip!
Now, that stand is quite different from the ones that Tax Lawyer and I purchased this weekend. I will take some pics tonight and post them.

Paul do the ones you guys got have straps or chains? Last season I bought 4 Huntersview Razorbacks from Walmart for about $40 each that have a huge platform (24x30"). They are a bit heavier, however at $40 each they were the best bet I have found yet. I really really like having straps instead of chain because of noise/weight. I may get some of the walmart ones instead unless these ones from Dicks have the straps......
you got me

Well you weren't bashing them . . . until your last sentence. :embara:

I think someone should point out that these stands do have a 300lbs weight limit and are approved by the TMA, using the same criteria that is used to approve Summits, Lone Wolfs etc. That said, these stands are NOT of that caliber. What these stands are in my experience so far, is stable, relatively comfortable, heavy, well made and inexpensive. They are the perfect stand to setup and leave without worrying about getting it stolen.

While we are on the subject of recalls, most treestand companies have had recalls. Heck Summit has had a TON of them. Why not get all the information on the table here. Read this, straight from the TMA's website:
http://www.tmastands.com/recalls.php

Summit has no fewer than 14 recalls, including recalls on their harnesses!! So maybe you don't get what you pay for, unless you buy Lone Wolf or course. :)

Anyways, I just wanted to clear the air here. In my opinion these stands are perfect for situations like Deerman1 described above.
I think you got me here...I wasnt trying to bash, but I guess I really did. I was just trying to pass on what I had found to provide more info to posters. I have not done a comprehensive search on all treestands (not even for this one). As for Summit recalls...I hope its not for the one I have.
I do agree that is a great price for a low-end tree stand and if I had lots of places where I needed a stand, I might get one or a couple. The point is for $30, you cant expect the quality of a Lone Wolf or some other big name brand. These stands should work well for some applications

TAXLAWYER, thanks for passing on good information!

The sticks that are on sale are 16 ft. and are the stackable kind. They are not 3 seperate sticks. not the best design, but again, for the $............not bad

This may be, the separate ones had the sale label at the store near me, but they also had 2 of the 3 displays labeled wrong (and wouldn't honor the incorrect price:sad: ). Funny thing is, the guy argued that they were labeled correctly until I brought him over and showed him the pics on the box that matched the label and they didn't match the display.
Matt, the stands that I have use two straps (not chains). The top is a ratchet strap and the bottom is a cam buckle. Also, the platform is oval in shape, pretty unique. The seat is also different, it is more like the seat on the gorillas, and comes with a removable foam cushion that even has a pocket for a heat pack.
Wow - they sound nicer than the ones I posted....
Hmm.... I'd buy what you are describing. I think I even saw it and the other chain on (pictured above) in my local Dicks'. I remember the stand you were talking about b/c of the funky oval platform... that snapped my memory and I know exactly which one your reffering to.

I don't remember the oval one being that cheap though.... the one I saw for $39.99 was the chain on above.

Hmmmmm....

Might have to go back to Dick's to check it out. I could probably use two more cheapo lock ons..... too bad everyone has gone up on my favorite Boss Big Game XL's.... those rock, but are now as expensive as a Gorilla.

Which Dicks did you buy from? The mall or Latham Farms?

I cleaned out the Crossgates store, but Latham may have some still.

haha....I was gonna go on my lunch break. I will have to check out the Latham store on the way home. Thanks!
I'm going to Poughkeepsie today to grab some...You know...Of the nicer ones!
never used climbing sticks

Can anyone tell me if you can get the climbing sticks to be firmly attached to the tree so that it feels solid while climbing?
I have never used them before and if they just have loop straps, is that enough to get it tight?
Preferably, reply requested from someone who just bought these and has set them up.

I have the 16' model with the 4' extension that I used last season. They are secured with cam buckle straps. I am very happy with these sticks....so I bought three more sets.

Meleagris1 used this stand last fall......he may have some comments.

Yeah, they worked great . . . :crutch:

J/K:wink: Seriously though, they were very solid. I was surprised actually because I, like you, have never really a big fan of the sticks but these worked well. Definitely no slipping. Actually, I only owned one pair of sticks before using these, and they sucked. I was almost happy when someone stole them.
nybowhunter911....ah the fond memories of that exact setup .. more to come in the fall
They got em in stock
