My local bow shop had Trophy Ridge's new digital react sight. Had seen Lancaster Archery's review. Looks pretty cool. Anyone shooting it yet? What are your thoughts?

I have the original React ONE sight that came out in 2014. I only use it at TAC events (no need for such long shots while hunting here in SC) and I am a big believer in the React technology. It preforms as advertised. That said, I am a bit skeptical on this new digital model. To me, it's seems like one more thing that can malfunction. It has a back up sight tape so Trophy Ridge has already thought about the digital aspect of the sight failing. I get you have to freshen up your product line from time to time but I think Trophy Ridge over-thought things with this addition to the line. Time will tell, I guess, but it wasn't broke so why try to fix it.

I have been very satisfied with the new digital single pin. Got a spring Turkey with it. Been shooting 3d with it. Great for that. The two friends that I shoot with. Keep telling me that I am cheating. I keep telling them that it is an adjustable site. Easy to read is the best part of it. No looking for glasses. The react technology is so easy to site in. I haven't had any problems with it yet. Pretty durable from my experience.

I got mine a week ago ....here is my quick review
1). I've had three eye surgeries and switched to mostly shooting lefty now .... and my close vision stinks...so this sight has been great...no struggling to see my tape...believe me I wish my vision was like a 25 yr old....but gravity gets us all...
2). The sight is well built...doesn't feel like "soft steel" ...its not an HHA but it's nice...
3). Definitely plan on using your phone and YouTube video to program it. Alot of things to remember. I had my phone/youtube on during the whole process. I used the yardage method. I only had to do a few adjustments, over a few shooting sessions to get it right, but it's pretty darn close right now. I sighted in at 20 and 50 yds.
4). I'm super happy about being able to store 5 arrow profiles. Gotta love that...light to heavy arrows ...no problem
5). I shut it off between shots at 3d. The battery hasn't drained quickly. I'm surprised that I haven't had to charge it yet. I did charge it overnight out of the box. Only one bar down on the charge after a week.
6). Time will tell if there is any computer bugs or glitches but so far so good. Also I wonder how water affects it. If I get caught in rain I def will shut it off and use the tape.
7). I can get out to 107 yards with the one arrow profile I've programed so far...I've only shot out to 60 though
---I'm sure I forgot to mention a few things so if you have any questions let it rip...but overall I'm really happy with it...here it is on my new Elite Envision....I'm digging it so far ![emoji106]

I have got to play around with one a bit. Would of bought one as I really like the react series of sights, but for one big issue (for me). When using a traditional rover single pin, and going from say 35 yards to 50 yards quickly I can see as I move the wheel my yardage change on my tape, so I rarely overshoot the yardage I am dialog too. With this sight as the readout is digital and the numbers change quickly it is very easy to over shoot the yardage you are going for. On the line this is no big deal, as you have plenty of time to move it back and forth to get the yardage just right. When hunting (say stalking antelope) you need to be able to adjust reasonably quick and I think I would have issues with this sight.

I could be wrong, but I think whatever the minimum is, it’s for when setting it up using the speed calibration. It’s basically a digital sight tape so you can still set it up as any other sight… I used the speed setup at 263fps and it worked fine. The settings will allow you to go much lower than 260. Trophy ridge has a setup video on YouTube that makes it very simple.

Hi gents,

For you that have owned and used this sight for a while, how has durability been? I'm thinking about getting one, but am hesitant due to fear the electronics will fail in a year or so. My HHA's have been solid for 9 years.

Also, I emailed TR to ask about their warranty on this sight, but haven't heard back yet. Do you know if they will replace it if the screen dies?

Thanks in advance.

I've got one and it's been great. I've got it on my SS34. I swap arrows, and all I have to do is shoot i through the chronograph, then make sure it's dialed in at 20 in the backyard. Using that method I've shot it at the range up to 100 with no issue. I can spend 15 minutes and be sighted in perfectly. I don't like the standard scopes so I put a spot hogg scope on mine. If you have the old spott hogg scope with the rod, you have to get the $25 dollar scope mounting kit from Trophy Ridge. If you order the newer scope, which is what they have at lancaster, you don't need the kit, the mounting screws fit the base fine. These also work fine on the normal trophy ridge react pros (non digital).

Edit: Sorry didn't asnwer the question asked... durability has been fine, I've had it for about 8 months, and I don't baby my bow or anything and have had no issues. The wheel is better than their previous react pros. When shooting 20 yards (all i have in the backyard), I dont turn the sight on, but about once a week I turn it on for an hour or two at the range, and once a month I have it on for 3 hours for 3d shoots. I charge it....maybe once every 3-4 months, and it's never actually got to low battery. Considering most lithium ion batteries start to degrade after 300-500 full charges... this should last a VERY long time.

I just got one, and tried sighting it in last night. I have a bolt-on radar Chronograph (FX Radar Pocket Chronograph) so I checked my numbers, got dialed in at 20 and entered my arrow speed. Apparently the chronograph is accurate because I didn't have to adjust anything except my windage out to 60 yards. I'm very impressed with how easy it was to get this thing dialed in. I bought the dovetail kit and I'm gonna change out the scope to something else I have sitting around. The scope is fine, but it's kind of cheap looking.

I'm going to post a video review on my channel (AJB Holsters) on YouTube in a day or two.

Trophy Ridge Digital React Single Pin (8 month review):

Let's get REAL on Sights (Sight/Scope combinations) for TAC/3D.

Mounted a Shrewd Optum 40mm Single .015 Pin with a 5x X-Focus Achromat Doublet to the Trophy Ridge Digital React Sight, Listen UP !!! -- it is THE END for: HHA, Axcel, Bowfinger, Spot Hogg, et al (ALL others) - Instantly OBSOLETE !!

1. 1st/2nd/3rd axis are a breeze.
2. You can actually "SEE" the Yardages... from 8 YARDS AWAY !! (hey older guys, Do I Have Your Attention ? Lols); btw ==> in .5 yard (or meter) increments.
FYI - it's DEAD NUTS at every single .5 yard increment !!
3. Sight Tape days are O V E R !! Hallelujah
Not only fumbling around with and sticking them on precisely, everyone knows that it takes months to get an 'ACTUAL' accurate sight tape (took me 3 months to get my 4th Sight Tape Dead On - shooting "ALOT"); Now, mere minutes !!!!
4. Separate (from the main wheel) Micro Adjust Elevation so you can MAXIMIZE full yardage range.
5. Dialing in the DIGITAL Sight Scale out to 130 yards literally took me 5 Minutes !! Sighted in the 20 yard (Traditional) then put in my Chrony Speed --- DONE !!!! So you say, "where can I find an accurate Chrony?" Well you really don't need to, just get within Hand Grenade Range (Arrow Speed Calculator will do the job). If you're hitting low, decrease bow speed (in the sight program). Hitting high, increase bow speed (in the sight program). And as an ancillary benefit - once you're on, you now have your "ACTUAL" Bow Speed.
6. You can program 5 different profiles (arrow wt and/or draw wt changes) and/or Different Bows.
7. With the Universal Scope Mount (Sold Separately - $30), you can add the scope of your choice to the sight.
8. Charged it overnight as directed when it arrived. Shot Three 3D Tourneys, forgot to turn it off on the last one and realized it later that evening (it was on for 7 hours), checked the Battery - Still Full.

Recently changed my D-Loop/Nocking Points - for whatever reason I was hitting low at 20 yards. NO PROBLEMO ! RE-Sighted in my 20 yard ===> Saved my Bow Speed, VOILA !! ===> New Sight Scale BALLS ON out to 130 Yards - took less than 3 minutes.

Hope it helps,

John

Good point John,

And very helpful post.

But I have one reservation. My HHA has been solid for 9 years. Will the electronics of the TR last 9 years as well?

It's not cheap in price. I emailed them asking about their replacement warranty if the electronics fail but never heard back. Another possible concern reference customer service. HHA is one of best in the business for customer service. I'm not an HHA fanboy, but that's what I've used and can attest to so I'm using them as an example.

I really like the idea of this sight so I'm hoping it comes together with electronics durability and warranty coverage.

That's a Fair Reservation - I don't know the answer to that question.
Personally, I'll be purchasing another as a back-up shortly; no other sight will be attached to my bow.

Like many others, my setup was a breeze. I did not use arrow speed, but sighted in via yardage.

In 45 minutes I was shooting out to 100 yards and dead on. The sight-in was really easy.

I am done fumbling with reading glasses hoping the ”TARGET” does not move. I love the digital readout. And the ability to have 5 different arrow/bow setup is a game changer

This is what I have experienced with my version of this sight. After seeing AJBHolders' review of the sight, I purchased one from Lancaster Archery, along with the dovetail adapter and universal scope adapter. I planned to move the Axcel AV31 scope with its 3x lens. The installation and initial setup on my 2014 PSE Premonition was a fun tinkering session.

For its initial test and setup, I brought the bow to my local archery range, setup the chronograph to use the actual arrow speed for the computer's calculations. I got my 20yard setting really close. I discovered I am in need of a smaller peep to properly frame the scope housing. With the current 3/16, it is too big, showing way too much space around the scope. Once I got the average of all my arrows, 304fps, I plugged that number into the speed setting and grabbed two arrows and dialed in 70 yards. Here is the result.

I am happy. One with the way the sight works, and hitting the nock of the first arrow directly between the ears. This made for the birthday hat trick of flying in the clouds, cheesecake, and compound bows.

I got one over this past summer, only things I do not like are the weight of the sight and my bubble fell out, not too big of a deal really I sticky taped it back in.

I used it all fall and the last couple week on a late season deer hunt, temps down into the teens, I did not have it on too often but it still has full battery life after 10 plus days of hunting with it on occasionally. I was also camping so it was in the cold the whole time as well as some snow days.

Was a mountain hunt and was riding on my hip, back pack or a sling for a lot of miles and seems quite bullet proof.

I guessed my bow speed when sighting in and made a few adjustments over a few weeks of shooting and have it dialed to 100, have not shot further, think I fell on 290 fps, believe I guessed 285 to start and was slightly off as I stretched the distance.

Never shot a deer but drew on a few and was fighting my level in the un even terrain, not sure if it has anything to do with replacing the bubble? Figure as ling as I have the axis adjustments the bubble being perfect is a non issue?

I love the fact you can double check your yardage setting at full draw and the pin is crazy bright!

I know this is an old thread.. But if you get the newer spot hogg scope (the one that is not a rod), it will fit on this sight without the adapter kit (the adapter kit will work with the rods and have a bit more adjustment). I've got one with the adapter kit using a uv3xl and one without the kit using the spot hogg mrt.
