Anyone got reviews on the Tru Ball Max Pro 4 for a hunting release? I'm looking for a simple thumb trigger for hunting and saw this one at the local shop.

The Max Pro 4 is a very popular hunting release in our line. A very good choice.

I shoot a Carter but, I also have a Max Pro4...

Is it as smooth as a Carter? No, but that's not really a fair comparison, especially considering the price difference!

My Max Pro4 has proven to be a very good, reliable adjustable thumb-release (my son now shoots it)...it's an excellent choice for someone making the transition from a wrist-release to their first thumb-release (it was my first thumb-activated style release).

It does take some getting used to, coming from a wrist-release, and will change your anchor. Once you get used to it, and start using back-tension, you will notice a marked improvement in your accuracy, and you'll wonder how you ever shot a wrist-release!

I've been using one for the last two years with my hunting setup. I'm glad I don't have to worry about what gloves I wear or the release head clanking on things

The set screw in the trigger is assembled with blue loc-tite on the screw threads. If the adjustment screw is moved several times with an allen wrench to adjust the setting and you notice there isn't any on the threads, blue loc-tite should be re-applied to keep the screw from moving from its desired setting. Adjustment directions are inside the packaging if you ever need them.
Good Shooting!

It also has a huge advantage over a lot of thumb releases as it is quite and doesn't have any snap to reset of needed. I am going to give it a try as well this year. I just shoot better with the thumb over my punch-o-matic.

I just got mine 2 weeks ago. Still getting used to it but so far i like it, only missed the target twice lol. Really looking foreward to hunting with it this season if i dont end up in afghanistan. Still playing with the adjustments trying to find my sweet spot, but i really like it and it seems well made. How much did it increase your draw length?

It didn't increase my draw length, the only change that occurred was the change in my anchor point on my face. I did notice how much more solid the wall felt compared to with a wrist strap release.
On a side note: I just want to thank you for your service for our country along with the rest of us in the armed forces

I have one and it works well for a hunting release. It does have a tendency to string-walk if you try to shoot it like a really slow hinge. It works great if you set it a little "hotter" on the trigger.

Very hard to beat in it's price point.

pretty much the same as a pro diamond release, ive been using that for couple years now for hunting with no issues and still using today.

Its a great realease for target or hunting is it the best no but for the price in my opinion ya can't beat it the only issue i had was the set screw backed out on mine after a years use and a lot of shooting i did not loctite it yet but if it comes loose again then i will.I do want to get another one and strip it down an paint it flo orange also if your not use to shooting this style of release i would start shooting up close my first shot from one was not a perty pic. after years of using trigger style releases.

As I stated earlier I don't mess with them and suggest to most of my customers not to mess with them as they are set fairly well from the factory for the average person.
But if you must make adjustments do it with the utmost caution or you could end up with a very fat lip.

I have attached pictures of the type of loc-tite we use in our assembly department. (It is great versus the liquid blue loc-tite as you have to shake the liquid so that you don't get a watered-down version that doesn't hold the setting, but either are fine as long as the liquid is a thick blue.) You can also see where we typically position the set screw in the handle before we "set" the release and test it to 100lbs.

Here, is the adjustment directions that are included in the package.

Note: We also recommend a specific rope loop material, braided 28-30xper in. (none under 2mm dia.), so it doesn't flatten.

Hope these help with your questions.

How are you guys drawing this!!!!!! Ive got the pro diamond and I dra back with my knuckles up till Im full draw then rotate in to set my anchor and my head doesnt turn fully and looks as if it torque my d loop causing inconsistency. Some one said draw with my pinky up with the grip vertical and the head turned like I need it but it doesnt feel comfortable. Any help!?

I position my hand where/how I need it to get to my anchor when I start setting up the draw into my shooting sequence

^^^this... It also helps eliminate an additional step in your shot process.
