If you are going to use it with the loop attached to the release then you should put a nock on the string above the arrow to keep the arrow in place. If you dont then the arrow will slide and change your nock point. You can use a brass nock or tie one in with serving.

I personally like to tie mine in with serving, but just a plain brass nock will work just as good.

Archer53 is correct about using the loop attached directly on the string. If you don't want to use the loop on the release, you can take it off, put a string loop on your bow string and shoot the release off of that.

I would also tie on a nock rather than use a brass nock. Either one will work though.

That's called a release rope and you shoot right off the string with it.
