I started turkey hunting 40+ years ago and still have several "old" friction calls that cost a small fraction of today's high priced "custom" calls and work just as well. 2 or 3 years ago I decided I wanted to try a "custom" call, so I bought a Woodhaven pot call that is very nice but not any more effective at calling turkeys than my old Quaker Boy, Perfection, or Rod Benson pot calls. It's the caller rather than the call that is effective. David Halloran could take my 40 yr. old Lynch World Champion or Rod Benson Black Barker (dated 1994 and recently gifted to me) box calls and call turkeys all day. I'm sure you have managed to call several turkeys in the past 20 years with lesser calls. Sometimes we want better (more expensive) for several reasons so go do it if that will make you feel better.
Agree 100%. Couldn't have said it better.
