# Vanes and nock... how many grains?

Ok, I want to play with all of the online speed/ke calculators, and I need to know about how much the plain ol' standard 4" vanes and nock on my Eastons weigh. What should I estimate?

3 4" feathers = 12 grains
1 Easton nock = 12 grains
1 Easton insert = 12 grains
Add maybe 5 grains for glue for insert & feathers

Thanks, Silver. That gives me roughly 250 fps and a KE of 51. Curse my short draw length! :shade:

He quoted you 4" feathers, 4" vanes weigh more, as much as 10 plus grains per 3, which are you shooting?

Yeah 4" Vanetec V-Max vanes weigh around 9 grs each I do believe. Good vanes, I've been shooting them some. Most nocks weigh around 12grs, same with inserts.

One of my arrows weighed in at 389 on the shop scale today, which puts EACH vane at roughly 11grains including glue. :mg:
