Velocity And KE Degradation To 100 Yards

So today I decided I wanted to see what my arrows are doing out to 100 yards. I have a labradar and a beautiful day off to play around.

I will test more arrows as time permits, but this particular arrow is what I am planning to take to Seven Springs TAC event in June.

Mathews Phase 4 33
72#
29.3" draw length.
Hamskea Epsilon

Victory RIP XV 300 spine cut 28" CTC
50 grain Brass Hit insert.
40 grain Ethics SS end cap.
Three Bohning Heat vanes
Bohning A nock.
418 grains and 19.7% FOC

I was stunned to see than this arrow maintains like 60# KE at 100 yards. Anyway,, I just thought I would share. I will try to get some tracking to 100 yards with heavier stuff tomorrow.

It is quite difficult to get the labradar to track to 100 yards in my yard because of obstruction in the way at that distance and the trajectory of the arrow sometimes goes out of the radars cone. I can only get about 15-20% of the shots to track.

You need a new target...lol
I have several other targets in my yard at various ranges. This one is still stopping arrows so I will continue to use it.

Awesome. I shoot those arrows and have a Labradar too. I bought a "scope" for my Labradar on eBay. Looking forward to trying it. Last season I used it without a scope

Are you using the archery sensor or relying on Doppler to pick it up ?

I use doppler to pick it up. It is very reliable when there are not obstructions between the radar and target.

KE is kinda irrelevant - as you lose KE upon impact - thereafter its the momentum that allows for penetration.
even my cheapaz would tape that target. lol

KE and momentum are both important, and somewhat synonymous. You los momentum on impact too ya know. Haha
One does not "Lose" KE on impact....it is converted to other forms such as heat (Remove an arrow from a target quickly after impact and feel the tip..in the case of foam based targets there may be sufficient heat to melt the foam and leave remnants on the arrow) or movement of the target.
