Vertical Pin Sight - TR Peak

Just wanted to say my piece about vertical pin sights. I’m coming from the tried-and-true 5-pin Black Gold Rush, which is awesome in its own right, due to really bright pins and overall ruggedness. But, my new Trophy Ridge Peak vertical 5-pin sight picture is SO much cleaner and uncluttered. The vertical stack of pins is so easy to aim and hold on target, I’ll never go back to horizontal pins. The pins aren’t as bright as MBG, but the installed/adjustable UV button light is more than adequate to brighten them however much you want.

I know a few other manufacturers have a similar 2-3 pin vertical, with a yardage adjustable bottom pin, but the archery world needs more fixed pin varieties like the TR Peak, it’s seriously that good! Time will tell about its build quality and durability, but it feels premium and appears to be solid. Again, the sight picture is marvelous. 🤌

Have one on my V3X. Saves a little weight and very user friendly. Very nice affordable option imo. Some will surely call it plastic junk but one of the big dogs uses plastic for limb pockets just saying. An older version of the Peak was all aluminium but wasn't tool less adjusting like the Peak and it had better pins imo. I think it's V Alpha not sure though. They both are great options if you don't want or just cannot spend $400-$700 on a sight.

I have been running that scope on spot hogg basses for years (tommy hogg/hogg father/boonie), I love it.
Not really sure why nobody else has made a 5 pin like this.

I feel like they must have had a patent on vertical multiple pin sights that expired.
For years they they were the only maker of them, started with their matrix line I think years ago.
Then about 3 or 4 years ago, multiple companies started making adjustable 3 pin vertical stacks all of a sudden.

It's interesting that you bring that up. I never really thought about it but they were about the only ones making vertical pin sights for quite a while. I bought my first one close to 20 years ago, had a few different versions of the TR vertical pin including the same or extremely similar model to the one in the OP (that one is on a bow that i've had for about 8 years and never had an issue with the sight).

There definitely are quite a few options out there now, which I love.

Always been a fan of vertical pins myself.

I am a huge vertical pin fan, still shooting one of the TR vertical 3 pin fixed sights. I also have a spot hogg hogg-it and want to put the triple stack on that fixed hogg it. I find that I shoot better both vertically and especially left and right being able to see my target on both sides of the pin.

Working in a pro shop for 20+ years: this is an area that once someone tries vertical pins once - they won't ever go back to horizontal pins... Love the Canyon Pounder, been trying to get him to make his sight vertical !

Except for me. I tried one and shot with it for several months and had to go back to horizontal pins. I know several others that did as well.

It's all in what YOU are comfortable with. Not everybody. YOU.

I bought the Trophy Ridge vertical when they first came out, only problem was they only (like everybody back then) were right-handed, and I always tore the pins out and turned them around before. Not that one so I flipped it upside-down and had the pins coming down. Worked fine and found the pins worked well to see any canter without looking at the level. A couple of years later I emailed them and told them what I did and to offer an L.H. model. Well the next year they not only offered an L.H. option, they also had a new model that had the top pin coming from the top (they were the first to come out with that). Right away I couldn't help but think wow where did you come up with that idea from. Even got an email from the president of the co. offering me a really sweet deal, but it was a package of all the products instead of just a sight, so I declined. Who knows for sure, but I might have been the inventor of that.

@Bryce@Spot-Hogg

IMO, the adjustable pins of the peak/v5 is FAR superior to the random gapping on other vertical stacks. Nobody wants preset pin gaps that have no rhyme or reason. A 20, 43, 54, no thanks….

If you are referring to the SH triple stack, the pins are individually adjustable.

Other than that, I agree. It's the main reason I went with a triple stack Boonie over everything else out there.

Curious, what was it about stacked pins that didn’t agree with you? What made you go back to horizontal pins?
