What's this year been like where you live? I work and live just outside Memphis, TN and, as of the end of July, we have hit 100 murders for the year. It's always been bad, but this year seems off the chart.

I think it's time to go ahead and get the concealed carry permit.....

I live outside of Detroit, in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area. My exact neighborhood is okay, but a few robberies and muggings around campus from time to time. Detroit itself is, of course, INSANE!!!! I can't carry a gun b/c I'm on campus at EMU most of the time. Not really sure what to do about it. I love my guns, but I'm not sure I could shoot somebody unless they were harming my wife or friends. Of course, no one REALLY knows if they would or not, until they have to. Then it's too late to debate with yourself. I really believe in that whole "turn the other cheek" thing in my faith, but it sure is hard to do if someone is messing with you.

Not to bad here, not a whole bunch of murders maybe 4 or5 in our county. Mostly burgleries, and meth head problems.

I live about 90 miles north west of Memphis, and if I had to live or deal with going to the city much.....I would be carrying....no doubt. I think the murder count in Memphis is 104.....

well, the police said that these two guys are the ones they were looking for, they showed ATF carring out a bunch of rifles from thier apartment. Now all the investigators are going to be hunting down the baseline rapist. I hope they get him before he rapes and kills again.

CY67, I live in central MS (not to far from you) and I believe that crime is on the rise everywhere in the south. My theory: Hurricane Katrina moved alot of thugs to different parts of the south (further north). My prediction: The higher gas prices get, the more crime we will see. I hope I'm wrong... but folks, if you don't already carry a firearm with you, it might be time to start!

i live on the same campus area ...near "the run".....whatever..anyways i have a gun loaded by every entrance and 2 on the head board and my 10 year old can break them down and probably run a gun safety coarse.......she would show the average a thing or 2 about gun control if you know what i mean....i just got home from an eventful night of street racing.....motorcycles....in detroit....it is pretty scary down there .....i think they find like a 100 bodies a week and have no idea were they came from let alone care.....we street race and have bikes that reach 200 mph in the 1/4 and the detroit police's answer to the racing is to turn on the fire hydrogens and flood the streets ...... welcome to the hood...we just lost a 1k race tonight and got the heck out... guns are a must when dealing with most in detroit....but in the ypsi/ann arbor area you have to do the same ....... boy MI has good hunting .....year round
just shoot alot and then there is only 1 side of the story.....yours

I moved from Memphis to a rural area in Arkansas just over a year ago, in part because of the crime rate. It was the best thing I've ever done. My daughter is in a much better school with no need for metal detectors, and the only crime out here is a very rare property theft, or meth bust. We do have to travel farther for work and shopping, but overall I don't think I'll ever live in the city again.

Bought a new truck last friday, then on wednesday some kid threw an eeg at me on the way to work. If I could have cought him I sure I would be a convict by now. Oh well, the wife felt so bad she hasn't said anything about the custom paint I'm planning for the repair.

Your theory is absolutely correct, and has already been proven. Crime has taken a very sharp uprise in the towns that "Gladly" accepted the Katrina "victims".

To live and die in Derby City.

Louisville led the nation in murders a few years ago and is still a very dangerous place to live.
If you come to Louisville, don't wander the downtown streets alone after dark. :laser: :faint:
Might be the last thing you ever do. :rip:
