Middleton, Wis. – Vortex optics met high customer and dealer demand for a quality rangefinder by adding the new Ranger 1000 to its 2012 lineup.

Easy to use with a clean display and highly intuitive menu, the Ranger keeps things simple, yet provides a high level of performance.

Capable of ranging targets to 1,000 yards, the Ranger gives hunters and shooters distance data needed to make accurate shots. Ideal for the vast majority of users, the primary HCD (Horizontal Component Distance) mode displays an angle-compensated distance reading. Scan Mode gives range readings as you pan across the landscape or track a moving animal. Advanced mode offers an option for shooters who want to calculate long-distance/high-angle shots with increased precision. Features 6X magnification and can be set to read in yards or meters to accommodate user preference. Battery indicator displays battery-power status.

Compact, ergonomic and lightweight, the Ranger is easy to pack, fit in a coat pocket or hang around your neck using the included lanyard – but those aren’t the only ways to tote this rangefinder. An adjustable, utility clip mounted to the body offers an innovative way to clip the unit to a belt or other flat edged surface for easy access. Clip can be mounted to right or left side of the unit or completely removed. Fully multicoated lenses deliver optimal light transmission. O-ring sealed for waterproof performance. Runs on common CR2 battery. Limited lifetime warranty.

Ideal for gun hunters, target shooters and bowhunters, the Vortex Ranger 1000 is sure to be a hit – and ensure hits.

I almost bought a new Leupold last night at Cabelas.

THANK YOU for the specs! :)

Only question I have is the readout lighting or color?

Is the 1000 yard rating on a highly reflective target or tree? How far will it range a deer?

I am waiting myself. I wonder if I can detour the delivery truck somehow when they get their first shipment?? I plan on updating to this one from my old Nikon 440. It's been a good one, just looking forward to a longer range and the color display. Local folks are talking about a long range rimfire tourney setup that sounds awesome, if so, I will pack this rangefinder alonf with a mildot scope :)
