1000 acre ranch and good friend is very limited to who and what deer are shot.

Now he has several deer that we know should be good three or four yr olds but often dont show up the next year.

Whats the thoughts on where these deer go year to year.

My thoughts to him are the deer wonder far enough off his property to get shot. Deer can easily travel a five mile sqaure.

1000 acres - yeah a lot of them will wonder off the property and get shot, or hit by a car, or die after a hard winter/rut.

The drought has been hard on our deer here in Texas this year. My lease got lots of rain recently and now we are having to worry about parasites killing the deer due to all the water. Its a no-win situation.

1000 acres is a ton of land but heck, if there isn't a fence then wondering off the property is the top possibility.

If that 1000 is in open country those deer are on alot of different properties.
