What happens when you shine a deer in your yard with bright floodlights?

I'm thinking about setting up bright floodlights at my house to attempt to see the wildlife in my yard. I was wondering what happens when you shine deer with floodlights in your yard.

Do they run away? Do they keep doing what they were doing? Does it bother them?

They run away after you chase them out of the garden a few times! But before that they didn't seem to mind, just kinda stood around. they like it better than an actual spotlight from the window

If they are there eating...they'll get used to the light real quick... Probably startle them first few times it comes on then they'll settle down. A feeder will help if that's legal where you're at.

Maybe use a red fog light instead of white?

Only down side is that you may have a few Gentleman callers come to your house.

I have a porch light on my back deck & it doesn't bother any critters. BUT, when we have snow they don't wait for dark. Hell, they never wait.

My dad lives in Kansas and had a light installed about 25' from the back of the house and had a wire buried and it is on a dimmer switch next to one of the back windows. He feeds wildlife year around. We've seen some stud bucks over the years. The deer will get used to it and won't mind it a bit.
